Hi everyone,

I'm 42 years old and that is about how long I've been on the losing (or gaining) side in the "Battle of the Bulge".

My family physician is fantastic and very supportive on any new meds, therapies, studies and yes, wls, that may improve my health. I couldn't ask for better. Unfortunately, all attempts at weight loss have been realtively futile, although I've lost 23 lbs now since my consultation at Barix on March 3rd, 2006. Surgery is in 2 days for hopefully a lap RNY.

I am looking ahead to a brighter, healthier future and plan on the RNY to be one of the tools to get there!

Update.....weight loss is progressing as planned. Currently at 284 lbs plateau for a week but continue with daily cardio and weight lifting at least twice per week. Still no appetite and problems/discomfort when swallowing well-chewed beef or chicken. Shall try fish in the next few days. Down to 2 meds currently instead of 5-6 and hopefully will be down to 1 shortly. Shall update again soon. Take care everyone.

Update.....Weight loss continues well and blood work was exceptional....lipid profile was textbook normal.....iron a little low so have now started ferrous sulphate twice daily. Exercise daily cardio (twice daily on days off) and generally feel great. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the RNY and Barix Clinics to anyone wishing to live a heathier lifestyle!
