Hello Everyone. . .

My name is Veronica. I had a RNY on July 19th, 2005. My decision for having the gastric by-pass surgery came at a time in my life when I remained sick constantly with high sugars which led to high blood pressure, arthritic problems, and last,  heart problems. I was miserable.  I dieted often with no results and when my doctor mentioned the surgery to me, I toyed with the decision for 2 years. I had heard so many negative things about the surgery and it scared me. With great prayer I decided to end my misery and have the surgery.

After the surgery, I had to get use to being small. My mind had to catch up with my body. I had to learn a new way of dressing. That was easy because I enjoyed the shopping. Getting into new styles that I had never considered wearing before was exciting. I had to learn a new way of eating. I even went to therapy to discover the new me. It was frightening.

I will never regret having the gastric by-pass! It has changed my life completely.  I became active, outgoing, healthier, and happier.

I've married recently and enjoy getting out with my husband. I don't feel the shame of being out in public with him. I don't say no to going out like I use to because of the fear of what people will say about me.

It's your time for a happier, healthier you. I wish you success in a decision that will change your life forever.

God Bless
Veronica M. Cook-Bailey
