6/6/07 is my magical day!
I will be having my operation done here in Portland, Oregon at OHSU.
Dr. Deveney will be my doctor.

I can't wait!

I'm on my way! Yay!

Last night I attended a mandatory meeting the hospital holds for people who are considering bypass surgery. Going into the meeting I had only one real concern. I was able to ask the surgeon about my concern and his answer was a positive one. With that I had my mind made up that I am going to go forward with this!

I had one thing still standing between me and the operation. That was how my PCP was going to react when I told him. Well today I saw him and he is all for it! Yay!

I have sent in for my medical records to be sent to the hospital and filled out some papers I was given last night. Tomorrow I will mail those in and once they have those in my records, I can make my first appointment with the coordinator.

I am SO excited!

If all goes well I could be ready to go in 2 or 3 months! Yay!

Places To BE And People To See...

This morning I was woke up by a call that was the hospital setting me up for the mandatory meeting you have to attend before ANYTHING else starts. I go to that on 2 weeks from tonight. :-) The next day I go to see my GP to tell him I want this done.  I don't have any worries about what he will say. I also am going to call my neurologist today and set up an appointment with him to get him on my side. LoL I have neurological conditions that MAY be improved with the weightless. They didn't improve last time I lost weight, but it can't hurt! :-) I just took a moment to call and I will be seeing him next Wednesday. So I guess I have done all I can for now... Just time to read more and learn all I can!

Just starting to get things going....

Dec 17, 2006

Hello!

I am just at the very beginning of this weight loss surgery adventure!

So far I have a scheduled appoint to see my GP on January 9th 2007 @ 12:40.

I have a call and email in for the OHSU Surgical Weight Reduction center so I can reserve a spot in their informational. The hold them twice a month so I hope to make it to on very soon. This is a mandatory meeting for anyone considering having this type of operation.

I have read one book so far, Weight Loss Surgery: Understanding & Overcoming  Morbid Obesity by Michelle Boasten and started my second book, Weight Loss Surgery: Is it right for you?  By Merel Cantor Goldberg, George Cowan, and William Y. Marcus.

That’s about where I am. I have heard from a trusted friend who works at OHSU and is also planning on having this same operation that my insurance will be covering this as of the first of the year. Yay!

I am very excited and not really nervous at all about this! Just wanting to make this positive change in my life sooner then later!

Oh, here is a link to the blog I wrote when I found out there was a chance for me to get this done: http://thatgirlrobin.livejournal.com/4171.html

Wish me luck!
Robin
