Surgery was a success.
Jan 04, 2010
I have to say, I LOVED my experience at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia (CA) from beginning to end. Everyone there was extremely nice, comforting and so cheery!
I had my Mom and Aunt there to support me and am so appreciative of them...they're the best!
Dr. Pehrsson did an amazing job and I would recommend him to anyone considering the surgery. I am now 12 days post op and have lost 8 lbs since then. When I went for my pre-op appointment I was 254 (that was after a week of liquids only) and today I weigh 240. So I have lost 14 lbs since December 15th. I am looking forward to being able to eat solid foods and to exercise. I am truly blessed to be starting 2010 with this new journey.
I will update again after meeting with Dr. Pehrsson on the 12th.
Blessings to all!

I got my date!
Dec 11, 2009
Hi,
Yes, it has been FOREVER since I have been on the site. Whoops!
The good news is......I got my surgery date-December 23rd...Merry Christmas to me!
The bad news is....this darned liquid diet is KILLING ME LARRY! Did anyone else have to do this?
I am hoping I am doing it correctly. I was told that I was to follow the 2 week out post op diet so I have been drinking 3 protein shakes a day and adding in 99% fat free chicken broth, heavily diluted apple juice and sugar free jello (of course plenty of water and my chewable vitamins too).
I am on day 3 now and can tell you that though I know it's worth it in the end, the side effects are a little intrusive. I have had a headache and am totally exhausted.
Still, I am looking forward to beginning my journey to ONEderland!
I hope all of you have a very safe and happy holiday season!

Next steps!
Mar 04, 2009
I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy on 3/27. I have a follow up with my general practitioner on 3/14. So much going on. It's hard to keep up with all of the appointments. I know, though, that this is all going to be for the greater good. It's hard taking the time off of work. I am afraid that they are going to get annoyed with me really quickly! I have to meet both the Nutritionist and my General Practitioner once a month for the next 5. So, that means, I have to leave a minimum of twice a month for these appts. (that doesn't even count leaving for the multiple tests I must complete). I hope they can just stick it out with me....I am sure that once I have surgery, I will be out of work far less because, quite simply, I will feel better!

Saw Dr. Pehrrson
Feb 02, 2009
I saw Dr. Pehrrson last Thursday. I am going to schedule an appt. with my PCP and have him fill out the paperwork Linda provided. I met with Lorrie (the nutritionist) on Friday, she was really sweet and offered some great ideas for calorie intake. I would like to lose about 30 lbs before I have surgery. I need to have an upper GI..never had one before so I am not sure what to expect. I am just happy to be on my way to a healthier and much fitter me!
