I went to the PNH intro seminar and theirs was no different then the other two I went to. They now have a 10 month waiting period and they also require 6 mos of documented weight loss efforts within the last 2 years. So for me that means that I need to start a diet now that I can document and that the soonest I will get WLS is September 2007. A part of me is discouraged. I am thinking of forgetting the whole thing and just following a low carb diet and get a personal trainer and by September I'll have lost too much weight to qualify for surgery (I'm about 105lbs overweight)....so in a year I can lose all 105lbs. But I know from past efforts that that is very difficult to do. My hubby said he would go on the "d" word with me. So over the holidays this is the decision I have to make. Start the"d" now or not be ready when they finally call me for my appt, or start the "d" now and possibly be too thin when they call me for my appt. Happy Holidays to all of you!

11/13/06 Getting the referral
Nov 13, 2006
I had my appt with my PCP on 11/10 and he agreed to send in a referral for me, but because our insurance (retired military) is like an HMO, he thought that I would most likely get my referral to the bariatrics dept of the Naval Hospital rather than to a civilian provider. I called today to find out when I could get an appt, and unfortunately the referral was put in to the surgical clinic instead of bariatrics clinics, so I have to call back tomorrow to see if they can see me there or if they will refer me out.
