three months...
Aug 22, 2007
It's been a while and I've been negligent in keeping up with my blog. Time has flown by. I am now three months out and 69 pounds down. It's amazing how I feel and can't imagine how I will feel a year from now. I still see myself as big and am but can see some slimming going on. I have not exercised as it's been a busy travel filled summer so I haven't had the opportunity. The kids started school the other day so I now have no excuses. My routine is set now. I can now fit comfortably in seats, don't worry if I'll fit into a booth at a restaurant, was ok in a plane seat and can tie a shoe without dying. I can also and do walk a lot without breathing hard. This is the greatest feeling. The bariatric staff is happy with my progress. The only concern I have is my hair loss. I hope it stops soon!!!
its out

i went to the doctor today for my first post op appointment. they took the last tube out and it was like an automatic rush of sunshine. it was definitely a pain inside of me causing much discomfort. i feel so much better now. he now gave the ok to go on the full liquid diet and then on sunday to start the puree diet. sounds good in a way and in another way i couldn't care less. just being full right now doesn't make too much of anything sound good. i've lost twenty five pounds total since this jouney started with the the two week pre-op liquid diet. not bad. i do feel a difference starting.
some discomfort
May 21, 2007
i didn't get all the liquids in the past couple of days but did manage to do so today. today is really the first day i felt "ok". i slept well without any pain medication. i still have to have my binder on to help me with moving around in bed without pain. i don't want to take any more pain medication as it has a weird affect on me. i was able to get into the doctor's office two days earlier than scheduled to take this tube out of me. its just rubbing on something inside of me enough to really make it uncomfortable to sneeze, move or breath deeper than a shallow breath. thank God it will be out tomorrow. i know i will feel so much better!!!
its done

i'm finally home. staying an extra day due to nausea. i'm sure it was due to all the meds they gave me all at once. i told them that but they wanted to be sure. didn't sleep while there as the bed was soooo uncomfortable. luckily i did not have the pain and gas my husband and so many others had. taking one of the tubes out wasn't painful either as i was told. just sore. but that was expected. just want to rest. i'm sure that's what i'll do this weekend. i have to call the nurse monday to report in and if all is ok i can then get on a liquid diet....not just the clear liquid diet. she also told me i would be out of work about four weeks, not the two weeks i expected.
clear liquid diet begins...
May 12, 2007
today was my first day of the two day clear liquid diet. today is much harder than the last eleven days although i don't know why. i've been hungry all evening. one day left. tomorrow is the final day and the final things i have to do for the prep. i'm looking forward to monday and to get healthy again! i'm expecting pain, some discomfort. i thought i would miss two weeks of work but i'm wondering now if it will be a bit more. luckily i have like four weeks of sick time and that much if not more of vacation so pay isn't an issue for me. that's a blessing in itself. one less thing for me to worry about!!
just the weekend

It's getting close. I received the call today to report to the hospital on Monday the 14th at 8:30 am. Surgery is at eleven. I am excited. I only hope I don't have too much pain. My husband has been doing so well and is three weeks out from his surgery. He has lost fifty pounds so far and feels and looks great!! I know the weekend is going to fly by so before I know it I will be on the healthy side!!

I was verbally approved last thursday, march 22 and told I will get the official written approval this week! I'm so excited. I'm ready to start this new phase of my life and get healthy. Hopefully tomorrow I will get an idea of when I can get the operation.
