Well, it has been one year since my surgery today. So much has changed in the last year. I have lost 122 lbs and I feel GREAT!

 Well, I got my approval and surgery date yesterday. I am having surgery on August 4 @ 9:30 in Huntsville Hospital. I am excited, but up until this point I was talking about having surgery. Now I am actually having it! I am getting nervous, but I am ready to get surgery over with and start losing and becoming more healthy. Please keep me in your prayers on Aug. 4.

I am finally getting started with my pre-surgery stuff. I went to see my surgeon and he told me that we are a go so I started my 6 month diet that my insurance requires. I have lost 3 lbs. I am having a hard time getting my excercise. I know that this is no excuse, but my internship makes me so tired that at the end of the day I just want to veg. I am going to really hit it hard this week. I have to go back to my dr in about 2 weeks, so I need to lose a little more. They want me to lose at least 20 lbs between now and surgery (late July or early Aug.) I'm so glad that I can finally see this happening!

Well, I just wanted to update and let everyone know that I told my daddy tonight that I am going to have the surgery. I was so nervous this morning when I woke up, but on my way over I prayed and asked God to give me the right words to make him understand. I suddenly had this calm come over me and when I told my dad he was very happy for me. I was shocked. He has a lot of questions, but I just told him that I had done the research and that I wanted to do it. This is turning out to be a great Christmas. Lately, God has really shown me how he works in my life every day. "He's an on time God, YES HE IS!"

Well, another semester has come and gone. I just went to my last real day of classes ever at Auburn (next semester is my internship). 
I have decided which surgery I am going to have. I originally was thinking that I would have the DS, but the two doctors that I wanted to use were not contracted with my insurance company. I have decided now that I am going to have the RNY. My mom had the same surgery about a year and a half ago. I am going to use the same surgeon as well. I have my first appointment with him on Dec. 13. I am so excited. Now I just have to tell my dad that I am going to have the surgery. I think that I am going to tell him when I go home for Christmas. Pray that God gives me the correct words and that my daddy takes it well. I have my mom and stepdad's support, but I really want my dad's too.

This year is full of decisions for me to make. I have to take the GRE, decide on grad school, decide what I want to get my masters in, and the hardest for me at this point.... I have to decide WHICH WLS I want to have in the summer. I have been looking at RNY, which is what my mother had a little over a year ago, and then I have also been looking into DS. I am not sure which one would be best for me. I am know that I want to and need to have WLS but I have no idea what kind to have. If I have RNY I know that I will use Dr. Malapur in Huntsville, but I have no clue who to use if I have DS. I guess I just have some more research to do! Thank the Lord for my mother and the fact that she is so supportive and helps me with my research. I know that with her by my side I will be able to get through all of this and will help me to make the right decision. I love you Mommy!
