Hello everyone. My name is Karen, I am 47 years old, and have been overweight most of my adult life, gradually increasing over the years to my present weight of just under 290. I have tried every plan out there, all with success...for a while. Then the plateau, following by discouragment, and then the invevitable surrender back to my old ways.
My surgery decision did not come easily, and comes with many hours of research. I have opted for the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. My surgery has been approved by my insurance and the date has been "tentatively scheduled for 10/29/09, with odds pretty good it will changed to the 1st or 2nd week of Nov, by the time my insurance gets the proper paperwork to my Dr.
I am a mixture of excited, scared, nervous, and anxious. So many different emotions, but most of all looking forward to a better, healthier life. I look forward to connecting with others who are going, or have been, through the same process.
