My story is the same as most of us I would imagine. I've been fighting obesity since I was eight years old. I've been on hundreds of diets and although I lost weight on most of them, I always gained it back with extra. It finally got to the point last year where it was affecting my health in so many ways that I knew I had to do something. My acid reflux disease and high cholesterol have being controlled by medications for years but now in addition, I could hardly walk due to knee pain so of course any attempt at working out was over. Then in October my ankles started to swell every day. After trying water pills and diet changes to no avail, I finally went to the doctor. He said the veins in my legs are collapsing and I have to wear support hose.
Support hose? Have you ever seen those things? Yes they worked but I know that I can't spend the warm months wearing those horrid things. No shorts or capris? I don't think so. When I hit my highest ever weight in January, I decided enough was enough and started researching WLS. The rest is history.
