Hello to anyone that has stumbled here. My name is Torri and I am in my beginning stages of discovering which step I would like to make towards weight loss. A brief history on me:
I started realizing that I was obese possibly when I was 10-12 years old. My first huge attempt to lose weight was in my senior year of high school where my mother and I went to a dietician and was put on hunger suppressant pills and a diet very similar to the atkins diet. I lost around 50 lbs then, and was at my known lowest weight of 220. I lost that weight in about 4-6 months. Over the span of a year and half I had gained it back and found out that I had gall stones. After discovering this, I was put into surgery in a matter of days, and was told this was due possibly to the weight fluctuations.
Over the years before that, and up until last year I did deal some with diets, that would possibly never last more than 6 weeks. I did some exercizing with jazzersize and step classes. I had went away to college and was very active there. More or less I had a very slow gain over the years.
Almost 3 years ago I found out I was pregnant with mine and my husband's first baby. I had a wonderful pregnancy but I started out around 310 lbs. I couldn't have had a better pregnancy, although I did have to regulate my gestational diabetes. I had tipped the scale at over 350 lbs, which that was as high as the scales would go at that time. I am proud to say during that time however, I was able to drop the weight down to around 330. Since Jareth's birth, I have again slowly gaine that weight back and then some.
I have never followed as strict of a diet as I had last year when I started going to Curves. I was doing very well, and was very active. I lost approx. 9 lbs in an 8 week period. I was doing everything correctly. But along with it being such a harrassment to juggle taking care of my son, working full time, and my husband sacrificing his time to carry two jobs, I eventually dropped my days going and eventualy stopped going all together. I haven't been back at Curves since January of 2006. I am positive I have gained that 9 lbs. back.
I have no doubt that I could possibly lose the weight with strict diet and exercise, however, like everyone, lack of results is discouraging and makes me want to give up all together. I am currently seeking other motives, including WLS, but still haven't made any final decisions as of yet.
