Day Four of the full liquid diet!......Baby shower at work !!!!

Aug 24, 2012

Well you can imagine how I feel surrounded by food that is not currently on my "FULL LIQUID " diet. I'm not  crying poor pitiful me by any means , because alot of the menu items are what got me to the point of where I am as far as my weight is concerned. ....There is chicken, chicken and more chicken , fried ,hot wings, lemon pepper ( my favorite) meatballs floating in BBQ sauce, chips dips, homes concoctions and not a single veggie in site .....all through out the   colorful 2 hour event, I was  asked " Mary are you going to get anything to eat? " I said no, and  explained to them I was on the fourth day of a liquid diet. The next statement was" well you've done good all week , you can have some... it won;t hurt!. This is one diet I am not going to break, this is the start of things to come. One co-worker mentioned "well after this diet you will probably go back to normal eating after your surgery"  Ha! They don't know that I'm having bariatric surgery. Well I have my fat free mushroom soup and a positive attitude. On a side note I'm a little weak, not hungry but wishing I had a cheeseburger in one hand and pizza in the other. Well until next time ....

See ya!

Countdown to WLS T-minus 2 weeks 2 days

Aug 19, 2012

Well folks in two days I will be starting on my full liquid diet. I do not plan to splurge by indulging on all my favorite foods or any nonsense like that, I will just pick one dinner that will include my favorite dish......Mac and cheese!  Anyone that knows me will tell you I love it. Not just any kind but baked with real cheddar(not Velveeta) I will only make enough for 2 servings, one for me and my mother. After that it will be game on ! Monday will be shakes and salads and then Tuesday will be creamed soups and other liquids. Not really looking forward to it because the local farmers market it full of this summers wonderful bounty. I will miss fresh roasted corn on the cob ( with fresh butter from Amish country) fresh tomatoes ( fried greens one too) but alas I am on a new journey to a better and happier health for myself. The only downfall, I still have to cook for my 81 year old  Mother, and as far as a full liquid diet for her ...she ain't having non of that ! I will have to cook regular foods for her, however there is a slight chance she will be dining on lean cuisine (I will purchase the better ones) my first post-op week.

As I approach my surgery day, I am not going to lie I am scared. I have searched the Internet with the pros and cons of the procedure and post op horror stories and yes they have had me rethink my position both ways on weather I will have the surgery or not. But when I think about the irritability I have daily with  the knee pain from the arthritis and my overall health I'm back to square one. I've come this far and tried almost all of the diets and spent tons of money on weight loss gimmicks ( except for pills ) so I'm going to forge ahead and do it.  That's all for now.......see ya !
