My story is similar to multitude of others on here. I have been fighting  obesity most of my life . At times it was social acceptable ( during my 20's and 30's) . I did well with  the Atkins diet ( or so I thought ) only to wind up up in the hospital only to find out that I had high blood pressure ( likely from family history) and an enlarged heart . That stay was for 5 days for some tests. After only 3 days I was back again for another 4 days for more tests and then on my way home with a bag of pills .

All seemed to be going well until I suffered a fall  and the Orthopedist  that was treating me also diagnosed me with arthritis and  treated me with steroid's "the battle" seemed to be lost because I could not loose the weight that I had gained from the round of  steroids ( although I could run up a flight of stairs for a week with no pain) This was not the only encounter with the steroids, the asthma that seemed to go away as a young adult reared it's ugly head in my 40's and that too was treated with steroids, and yep you guessed it more weight gain .

Fast forward to one last attempt at losing the weight with the power of good ls Marie and her success with NutriSystems I lost 30 pounds and 500.00 dollars. So I began  my research into bariatric surgery . After attending the weight loss seminar at Transformations, the weight loss clinic for River Oaks Hospital.  I met with Dr. Carroll and his staff and started the process.
