My journey

Sep 28, 2009

I started this journey in 2000 at the age of 49.  I have always  been over weight.  I remember as a child, I was the fat girl.  Anyway, I had weight loss surgery in November 2000.  I had no problem getting approval from the insurance as I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, arthritis in my knees and my weight was 348.5 lbs.    In the period of 1 year,  I  lost 137 lbs. I felt great, could walk up and down stairs without stopping.  I moved to Maryland and I stopped walking and started cooking real meals for my family.  You know when you cook,  you start to eat .

I have gained half of what I lost and feeling horrible again.  My knees hurt, I can't walk from one room to the other without my knees and feet hurting.  So  now I am seeking revision surgery.  I am trying to have one surgery to fix another problem also.  I have a ventral (sp) hernia and a hiatal hernia that need repair and I am hoping to get everything done at the same time.  I spoke with my original surgeon and he said he could do a revision to distal rny and repair the hernia's at the same time.  Ashley (insurance) in the Dr. Anez office sent in the letter for  approval  to BC BS and they felt I needed to have a nutritional evaluation and a psych evaluation.  I have had both of the evulations done and am now waiting on the psyc dr. to sent in her letterso Ashley can forwrd them to BC BS. I am hoping to get this all done and approved before this hernia starts to give me problems and I have to have emergency surgery.   So this is my adventure into my new journey.  I never made it to goal or even under 200 lbs.  I will try my hardest this time.  This is my time, this is something I have to do for me.  I need to take care of my health.
