I'm a 32 year old female living in Dayton, OH. I've had problems with my weight since middle school really. I endured the harassment that is common for the fat kids in school, just as I endure the bias that effects the obese person every day of their lives. My reason for surgery is not due to other people's opinions however, but my own declining health. I have several comorbities including gout, PCOS, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and sleep apnea. Although people may say that this is the easy way out I know better, and sometimes I don't think I have what it takes to make such a stringent lifestyle change. Nevertheless, I am set to undergo lap RNY on the 22 of May. I think my biggest fear is that I just won't wake up, but I'm also afraid of saying goodbye to the way I've used food in the past. Ready or not, here I come!
