My point of "oh my goodness..." came around the end of September when I went to a doctor here in Minnesota for the first time and they made me step on the scale and I came in at 298. I couldn't believe it! Don't get me wrong, I've always been overweight but the numbers were shocking, to say the least...
I remember when I was first grade and my teacher and the school nurse made my mom take me for all these tests because I was just growing bothing ways so fast. There was obviously something wrong with me. but it's been like that my whole life and seeing those numbers made me actually put my foot down and say "NO MORE!!!" That was the day I asked for a referral to have the gastric bypass done.
Being new to Minnesota, I had no idea where to even begin but fortunately, before I left the doctor's office that day I had already been given a referral by a receptionist that was getting ready to start the process as well and was going to the same surgeon her sister went to. So I made an appointment there and at two other places that i randomly picked.
One being at the U of M and the other being Park Nicollet. Park Nicollet has been great and was extremely lucky to have picked them.
