Eight Weeks

It's been eight weeks since my revision to RNY surgery.
( After a difficult two years with the lap band, lots of acid reflux issues and issues with finding the "green zone", the "correct" tightness for my band proved to be impossible due to the reflux difficulties, felt hungry a great deal of the time, it just was not the correct tool for my body.)
I have lost a total of 50# since beginning the two week pre-surgery liquid diet on May 30th. I am pleased with the results I've seen and how I've felt so far. Just a little setback with what I could keep down due to a stricture occurring. That was taken care of on August 5th. I was stretched to 8mm and the dr. is going to have me come back in a month to stretch my stoma to 11mm. Since the procedure I have actually been able to keep everything down and take real drinks of liquids!
I have a large plastic bag of clothes that are now too large for me that will be going to the Goodwill. It's a tangible, visual trying these clothes on and seeing how they just hang on my body. Makes me Smile.
Also, my blood pressure med has been cut in half and my cholesterol med down from 80mg to 20mg. I love that! My back pains have decreased significantly too!
So many blessings! I am very thankful.

Well, this band is working well for me, now that I'm at a good fill spot. Im down to 240 today.
Very happy about that. I had three months of basically ignoring my needs, indulging in sweets to
"help" me deal with my husbands injury and the financial difficulties that came along with his being
off of work. On Dec 9th when I weighed myself and found that I had regained 13#, I was devastated
and felt ashamed and like a failure. I called to see if I could get in for a fill NOW, I was able to get
in on the 18th. And that was the extra push I needed to get the weight loss going again. I did manage
to lose 6# of the 13# gain before my fill. Simply by stopping using the sweets. I say using because
I feel like a drug addict when I'm into all that junk. I NEED IT! My body and mind yell out for it and
it consumes my thoughts. I truly hate being in that spot.
So, since the 18th of Dec. I have been basically on track. It feels good to be experiencing the band
working for me and me working my band. A good partnership!
Some goals that I have are to improve my food journaling, and up the exercise to daily. Been doing it only
every other day basically. i need to get more fluid in also, haven't been getting 6-8 glasses of water every day.
So these are my goals for this week to work on and make improvements with.

Nine Days Out

Well, so far so good. I'm just starting to eat mushy foods. Losing weight,my incisions are healing great. No problems so far. My experience at Hurley in Flint, was a good one. And so far at home my husband and sons
are being helpful and supportive.
I feel so much hope for a healthier future!

I'm so excited, (and nervous), Wed, May 28th is my surgery date.
I couldn't believe it when that date was offered. I figured it wouldn't happen
until middle of June of July. I am so truly grateful and thankful for this
opportunity to get healthier. Praise the Lord!

Impatience

I'm feeling impatient about gathering of paperwork taking so long from the dr. office. I make calls to ask them to get the stuff in to Hurley so they can forward everything to insurance. It's been two months just getting info together. Ugh...............................I really just want to get started on my journey. Actually, I guess I have started..............

Seen the therapist again today...talked about the pros and cons of Lap-band vs RNY to help me feel more confident with my choice of surgery. Talked about eating triggers etc... was helpful.
