I don't even know where to begin. I think I have been on a diet for nearly all my life. I wasn't an overweight child or teenager. I weighed 120lbs when I graduated high school. I was in the USMC for two years and I guess that is when my weight started yo-yo-ing. I weighed 132lbs going into boot camp and coming out, though I went from a size 11 to size 7. I met my wonderful husband Rob, while we were both stationed in Iwakuni, Japan, May31, 1986. Our son, Anthony, was born July2, 1987. We have two other children, Nathan, age 16 and Amanda, age 11. My husband retired from the USMC in 2004 and we moved from sunny California to Houston. Of all the places we have lived, I never imagined living in Texas!! But, here we are and it's okay.
I have tried every imaginable diet and weight loss scheme you can think of. It is so hard to be the wife of a Marine, who even two years after retiring, gets up at 4am to go to the gym faithfully, EVERY DAY! He has never once criticized me for my weight gain. Whatever diet I was on, he was on it with me. Though, it always seemed to work better for him than it did me. My children love me and have never looked at me as"fat" but I do. I see myself everyday and I know there is a skinny, sexy "momma" in there waiting to come out.
My friend, Pam, had RNY in June of 2006. She was my inspiration. I started considering it seriously and now, I am just waiting for a surgery date. I hope it is soon. I am so impatient and wish it was tomorrow!
I hope this surgery will enable me to love myself again and in turn be the person I pretend to be. I am very thankful to not have any comorbilites like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea. My cholesterol is a little high, some back pain and seem to be tired all the time. I am so ready for this new journey because I am ready for a new me and a new life. I never imagined weighing 262lbs. I remember asking my husband at the Marine Corp Balls we used to go to "what would you do if I got as fat as so and so's wife" and he would tell me "leave you home and never let you out of the house. Make you run every day like crazy" Well, now I AM so and so's wife and he loves me just as much and I even get out of the house! HA HA!! This time, this is all about me and I can't wait!
