WOW it's been that long??

Jan 19, 2010

I cant believe it has been three yrs since my last blog! That was a shocker! Anyway I am doing great! My hair has finally grown out, it is almost as long as it was the day of surgery in 2006. It hasnt thickened up yet and I sure do hope that will happen soon!
I discovered chocolate last year due to some extreme stress that I have in my life. I never could understand how so many women loved chocolate so much....well, now that I have had that craving and also see how hard it is to pass up, I understand it a bit better. I was never a chocolate eater before....and now twenty pounds later.....I stay away from it too!
I am trying now to loose the twenty chocolate pounds. Not that the stress is any less, just coping with it all a bit better these days.
I still feel great otherwise, my knees still give me problems and so does my arthritis, but shall live thru it all.
I pray everyone has a wonderful year.

~A New Year-A New Lease on Life~

Jan 15, 2007

~16 January 2007~
A New Year has begun and I couldnt be happier!
I havent posted in a few months, so it is time to catch up with all the happenings.

First:
I have cut my hair so it wont look so awful. I lost alot of hair over the last six months. New hair is coming in, but it will take some time to thicken up and look good. I would say I am goin to have to have some patience before my hair is long like it was before I had this surgery.

Second:
I still find myself eating to fast! This is something that I will have to work on constantly. Afterall, I have been eating fast for how many years? I can't expect to quit that habit overnight....well at least not right away! I will continue to think "EAT SLOW"!

Third:
I now weigh 160 lbs! Since before surgery and after, I have now lost 120 lbs! I am feeling GREAT! I may have a few more pounds to loose, just depends, I am still loosing but of course very slowly as I am coming up on my one anniversary. I cant believe it has been that long already!

I am very pleased with my WLS. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

~Still Finding it Difficult to Eat Slow~

Sep 04, 2006

~05 September 2006~
I am really doing well. I have lost about half the thickness of my hair! It has taken about three months for my hair to "thin" out, BUT new hair is coming in! YES! I have naturally curly hair which means that those new little strands of hair dont stand straight up they curl or should I say frizz! Catch me at the right time of day and I have this little halo of curls all over my head....lol. I am glad to see it though, I was getting to wonder when it was going to start coming in again.

I still MUST concentrate to eat slow, I find myself eating to fast. Gosh will I ever make eating slow a NATURAL habit?

I can eat just about anything. Well I can eat anything! Somethings have a "different taste" now so I dont eat them....like Cheetos! I can not stand the cheese flavor in Cheetos! I am careful about what I eat and how much. I think I have tried all my favorite foods.

I cleaned out my closet once again. I have a short stack of large clothing. I have brought out of storage the rest of my clothing from years ago. I still visit the local thirft stores. Though I am going to begin a new job soon and had to buy some new clothes. Now that was FUN!

I am so glad I decided to have WLS. I would do it again in a heart beat!

~My Hair is Falling, Falling, Falling.....~

Jul 18, 2006

~19 July 2006~
I am feeling great! I have cut my hair about six inches shorter since it is falling out and I dont want the ends to look scraggly. My hair has been falling out for almost two months now. I am so thankful I have or should I say HAD super thick hair, but even so, I dont know how long it can hold on!

I have not experienced any problems with any kind of foods. I do become ill when I eat to fast or to much or a combination of both. I think eating slow is STILL the hardest thing for me to do. I am still working on it and need to get into the habit of it instead of concentrating all the time...eat slow....eat slow...eat slow~!

~Three Months Out & Eating Slow is Still a Challenge~

May 31, 2006

~June 01, 2006~
It has been three months since I started this new life. I feel great! I am still trying to eat slow, oh so slow! I think it is one of the hardest things to do besides getting in the protein. It is really difficult to eat slow when everyone else at the dinner table is chowing down!

The other day I was feeling like Pavlov's dog~! Now let me explain. Every time I eat to fast OR eat to much ( I never know which it is ) I get sick. I feel nauseous and need to lay down for approximately two hours. I am figuring if this continues I will be trained like "Pavlov's dog" and stop eating fast and/or overeating! Sounds good anyway doesnt it?

I think the most exciting thing that has happened lately is that I have been pulling out my old clothes which I havent been able to wear in about four years! I have had to buy some slacks which I bought at the thrift store. I do not want to spend money on clothes I maybe wearing for a short period of time. I hope to find some blouses on my next journey to thrift heaven.

~My First WOW Moment~

Apr 27, 2006

~28 April 2006~
I am feeling wonderful at seven weeks post-op! I am getting used to my new life style. I am feeling better each and everyday. I am still trying to get into some kind of habit with all the supplements needed. I will find a system for me so I won't be so forgetful!

I had to dig out some of my clothes that I had put away some years ago, as the ones I have now hang on me! I loved doing that!

My first WOW moment was when I finished scrubing our Master Bathroom, (which is very large) and my face was NOT beet red, I was NOT sweating and breathing heavily, I was NOT so tired I needed to sit down for an hour or so. I WAS FULL OF ENERGY! I was thrilled, so much so, that I continued cleaning to my hearts content!

When I work in my garden pulling weeds etc, I can now get some work done! I know that this will only get better and that I shall be able to get my chores done better and in less time.

~Four Weeks Post Op & Down 33 lbs~

Apr 08, 2006

09 April 2006~
I am four and a half weeks post op and feeling great! I have been working on getting enough liguid down as I have been doing well in the protein dept by starting my day with a Protein Shake that gives me approx 40g of protein~! HURRAY! Right now my Doctor wants me to have 50g of protein a day. I am getting that and sometimes more! Trying to stay ahead of the game if I can.

My clothes are beginning to get loose! Yep, that does feel good~! I have lost 33 lbs as of last week. I only record my weight once a week.

I must say that yes I have over-eaten on two occasions and now know the effect of that! I have also eaten to fast once and learned how that feels. Now that I know the punishment for these crimes, I try not to commit them any longer! It doesn't feel good at all! Yes I have also had rebellion when something new was introduced. But since I sample only a small bite and wait, I have not suffered severely yet on any type of food. I am at the beginning of my journey and I am excited each and every day to experience each new step, no matter how small.

~Two Days After Surgery~

Mar 09, 2006

~~10 March 2006~~
~I am home and doing well~ Surgery went great and my surgeon Dr. Weaver was the best! I dont remember much about the 8th which is the day I had surgery. On the 9th Dr. Weaver said "This will be the worse day, and tomorrow you will feel like a new women!" So True! Yes, there is some pain and I have meds to deal with that. I have started on pureed foods. I have begun my new journey, I am now on the losing side!
~Thank you to all those who sent encouraging words~

~Never Knew I Could Enjoy Eating Veggies So Much~

Mar 03, 2006

~04 March 2006~
Ok, now I have been on this "Liver" thing for over a week. I find myself hunting up new veggies to steam for dinner..lol. The protien shake and protein bar is not bad. I eat them slow as that is my breakfast and lunch. I try to enjoy what I get..lol. Dinner is 3ozs of lean meat and steamed veggies....and I thought asparagus didnt taste good~! It is sooooo delicious now~! I have a variety of fruit and yogurt for my snack times. Now I just put the two together for a different taste. My last day of this diet is Monday March 6, 2006, then I have one day of clear liquids and then the next day surgery. Yep it is countdown time~! ;)
