Half way goal is within reach!!
Mar 28, 2011
I am now 3.25 pounds away from my HALF WAY GOAL!! woohoo!!! I can't believe how quickly its coming off. I guess Katie Jay would say I'm still in my honeymoon phase of my journey, but I don't care. I'm so happy these days, and really enjoying the exercise too. I have some issues with food, but I'm still doing trial and error on what I can tolerate and what I can't. My biggest issue right now is eating slowly when I'm home. I tend to eat too fast most of the time because I have to work out, or I have errands to do, etc... and don't realize how quickly I'm eating, until I don't feel so good. So I'm making a conscious effort to do things differently for dinner tonight. A friend mentioned eating at my dining room table. I usually eat in front of the TV, since I live alone, and I like company when I'm eating. But tonight I will try eating at the table and putting down my fork between every bite. I don't have this issue when I'm at work or out at restaurants, so time to change my at home habits and "make it work" as Tim Gunn would say!
I am still doing my Boot Camp and my 5K training. I have even switched it up a little and started doing some high energy yoga in place of the boot camp a couple days, just for something different. I love, love, love doing the yoga. I never realized stretching my muscles would be so fun to me... I know, STRANGE, huh? I think so too, but I do, I just really enjoy it.
I am also up to 8 minutes jogging for the 5K training. I was supposed to do 9 minutes last time, but I was so tired, I just stopped. I will get back with the schedule so I'm ready for my 5K in May!!
I've decided not to move on to Level 3 (week 5) on the Boot Camp DVD until I can do the Level 2 exercises better. I still get a great workout so its win-win!!
Over the weekend I bought myself a bathing suit. Now mind you, I'm not going to get on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition anytime soon. (I'm still a size 20), but I am pretty happy with the suit I've picked out. It covers the parts I really don't want to show, and I think it is flattering on me. It also is very comfortable, so I'm content with my purchase. Believe me, I wouldn't have bought one now if I wasn't going on vacation next week, but I really needed one for vacation. Plus, I may want to get in the pool and do some exercises too, and I need something to wear.
My plans during vacation are: reading, relaxing, and exercising!! I'm even taking my workout DVDs with me! No hand weights, but I am taking a list of exercises and my resistance bands, so I should be covered. Plus they have an exercise room at the resort too. Not to mention, all the walking and jogging on the beach too!!
Can't wait to see how well I do this week!! :)
As Katie Jay would say, You ain't seen nothing yet!!
I think I love Bob Harper...
Mar 20, 2011
Its official.. I no longer have back fat falling over my bra strap... Its really the little things that really make my day sometimes!! I know, it may not be the most exciting accomplishment, but I think I can thank Bob Harper and the Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD plus the yoga and who knows, maybe even the 5K training.... WOW, that makes the sense of accomplishment even greater!!
I also have noticed that I tend to make better meal choices. For example, last night, it was so late, and would have been so easy to stop and get some take out, or a drive thru or something, and instead, I chose to have a turkey wrap that I had at home. My choices revolve around my getting my protein in. I was a die hard pasta, bread and carbs person before and now I see that I'm breaking that pattern. Oh, believe me, I fall off it occasionally, but I just try to get in the most protein I can get without getting it all from a protein shake. This, is a great habit I've started!!
Yesterday, i did the boot camp dvd again, and then mowed my lawn. My mower even got to the brink of dying and I fixed it all by my lonesome.... (Had to call my Dad and thank him for teaching me how to use a few tools! LOL). Cleaned the air filter, and then finished the job. How do you like me now, eh? hehehe.. After that I was exhausted! So I took a break, ate a late lunch. After getting showered and ready for the world to see what I look like, I did a little shopping. No clothes mind you, but it was still good to get out of the house.
Saturday I had a jewelry party, and I am so proud that I gave the dessert away after the party. I gave away most of the drinks too! I kept the one that I knew I could drink but the rest are gone. And the second dessert, I'm bringing into work to share with my coworkers. Great planning to get that stuff back out of my house.. (it was there less than 8 hours!!) hehe
Hope everyone has a great week, and thanks for the comments!!
Determination is everything!!!

I can already notice changes in my body. I'm getting stronger. My left leg was never as strong as my right one, and that is no longer true, they are more equally strong. I can also notice that I'm paying more attention to strengthening my abs too.
The work outs may hurt a little bit, but boy, do I love the feeling of getting through it.
Tonight I plan to work out again, since I have a show to go to tomorrow night and will miss working out. Then I will start back on Thursday again. I'm in such a good mood I think I'm high on endorphins! ;)
Exercise on the weekend? MOI? HELL YEAH!
Mar 07, 2011
Also, I've been doing the 5K training too. I've been through week one, and tonight I'm starting week 2 for that as well. I'm hoping to jog in a 5K in May and I'm keeping my focus for that as well.
Wow, what a feeling, when you start moving more. I could very well get addicted to this moving. I'm not sure if that is because Spring is coming or if its just because I've lost alot of weight, but whatever it is, I'm hoping it will become HABIT for me. Like I said, I write this more for myself than anyone else, and mentioning over and over that it needs to be habit is just a way I can try to make it sink into my head more. :)
I actually called my Mom on Saturday to tell her that I noticed that most of my back fat is disappearing!!! Not sure if that is just from the weight loss or from the Boot Camp, but either way, I'll take it... (and I'll keep on keeping on with the Boot Camp!!) No more roll of flesh hanging over my bra strap. How good does that feel??? FREAKING PHENOMENAL!!!
I weighed in this morning and lost one pound. Very hard not to say "ONLY" one pound, because every victory is a still a victory, no matter how large or small. Twenty seven days til vacation and I can't wait to see how it will be to fly on a plane and not be so tight in the seat!!! So many things to look forward too!! This is going to be a GREAT YEAR!!
Spring is in my step and in the air. :)

Its still difficult getting all the protein in, but I'm doing much better now that I've come to the conclusion that I need to drink at least one protein shake a day. My protein of choice is usually a chocolate fudge myoplex for a quick 20 grams of protein. Usually shortly after breakfast. Breakfast pics are usually greek yogurt with peaches in it.
Fruit has been pretty easy to tolerate, but I had some fresh blueberries yesterday and I don't think they went over to well, so may have to pull back on those a little bit.
I have started the Biggest Loser Boot Camp at the beginning for the THIRD time, and I am determined to get off of the Week 1 - Week 2 work outs and move to week 3. I've also committed to running a 5K in May. I started that training just this week.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to blog that I finally broke the "lost 50 lbs" mark. Next week I have my three month follow up and part of me wonders if I've slowed down on my weight loss. So I've been hatcheting up on the exercise. I'm hoping that with spring in the air, and feeling good after exercising that if I have a transfer of an addiction, that I become addicted to working out. :) Hey, can that be so bad?
Well, I'm off to breakfast... hello, greek yogurt! :)
Happy Valentine's Day!
Feb 13, 2011
I am also 1.5 lbs away from hitting the 50 lbs lost mark. That makes me VERY HAPPY!!
I've resigned myself to the fact that I need to drink at least one myoplex a day, and that is ok. An easy 20 grams of protein to get in. It is just a staple on my grocery list like milk or eggs.
Last week my Mom asked me if I've moved into smaller clothes. I really haven't, except after looking through my closet that I have actually gone down one size. And that size is baggy. I'm not worried about the size of my clothes right now as long as I have some clothes that do not look horrendous on me.
I do know that my blouses and tops are larger and baggier than they used to be. Lucky for me that its still cold enough to wear sweaters that cling a little bit. That way, they don't look quite as baggy.
Boot Camp tonight!! :)
I have learned...

Cold or Strep and the Superbowl
Feb 07, 2011
I had a dr. appt with my regular family practictioner today. He was very happy to see the progress that I have made, and I was delighted to find out that my blood pressure was 100/80! Holy cow, is that low or WHAT?? At first I was a little alarmed, thinking something was wrong because the BP machine couldn't read it... TWICE... but the doctor assured me that the BP was a great BP, in fact, he said the word PERFECT.. so, I'm relieved.
I've not been feeling very well lately. I caught a cold last week and that completely screwed up my working out routines. So, I've been nursing myself back to health. Luckily it was only a cold (YAY no STREP!) and even though its not completely gone, the Doctor said I sound like I'm already getting over it. (I just love all this good news I'm getting!! ;) )
I have been waking up with headaches lately, and that is most likely because since I've been sick, I haven't really been eating much, which includes protein, so I am just chalking up the headaches to that for now. Although, I do wonder sometimes if the headaches are actually my body getting its protein from my brain, and I'm losing my short term memory! Yes, I have some weird medical thoughts sometimes. lol But I do ponder just why I get headaches from not eating enough protein, when I didn't get them before the surgery.... must have something to do with the malabsorption... but if I didn't get enough, then why would it matter if I had malabsorption or not? Definately something to ask the doctor about on my next visit.
The illness did have some good results too... I noticed I lost 5 lbs in the last week all because I wasn't eating a whole lot. Not sure if that is a delayed reaction to the workouts from the week before, or if its really from being sick and not eating a whole lot. In any case, I'll take the loss!! woohoo!!
Yesterday I felt pretty good, so I took Abbee (my dog) for a nice long walk, so at least I did get some exercise done. And tonight, I'm hoping to start my Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD from the beginning again. A friend of mine in NY is starting it this week too, so I'm trying to be her motivation to do it... either way, I'm planning on it.... if by chance I start hacking up a lung again, then I will at least take Abbee for another long walk.
I can't wait for Spring, and I can't wait to break the 50 pound mark!!! woohoo!!
Oh yeah, also, I thought I was ALL THAT, and prepared myself some refried beans and some crackers... (because I'm still on soft foods) for dinner last night. Thought it would be cool, just like a dip kind of thing to have during the Superbowl... Well, let me just tell you... it did not settle very good with me. I didn't get sick, but boy did it feel like lead in my stomach. Note to self, next time, don't eat half a cup of refried beans & crackers! Eat less of them, and add something like some other type of protein! One that isn't quite as FIBEROUS!
Boot Camp - Day 2
Jan 27, 2011
I also started my 5K training that night. Only walking 5 minutes, then jogging two, then walking another five.
i've also been doing my yoga stretching in the mornings too... makes the muscles wake up and say Good Morning!
Tonight, will be Day 3 of Boot Camp (and 5K Training). I am targeting a 5K that is on March 7th for my first 5K...
I heard that the best RNY success stories come from those that make sure they exercise... so I'm going for it with guns blazing!! ;)
Dietician appointment today, My monthly after surgery follow up appointment with Dr. Gersin is tomorrow.
Wish me luck!!
Biggest Loser Boot Camp - Day One
Jan 24, 2011
Technically, yesterday was Day One, but I'm so glad I started it. i can't wait to see how this tones up my body. I even took a nice walk at lunchtime too, and this morning I got up and did my 10 minutes of yoga stretching. Its going to be a great day!
i'm trying to decide what to do tonight. Should I skip the BL DVD and do my training for the 5K? hmm... decisions, decisions.
Today I feel like I'm really starting to get into a good routine with my food intake. Yesterday I got a decent amount of protein and I'm hoping to follow the same routine today too.
The weight loss has slowed down, but its ok. It will continue, especially when I exercise!
