"My first impression of Dr. Jamal was a good one. He made me feel comfortable and didn't look at me like I was some sort of freak like some people do. He gives the impression of being very confident and has his patient's best interest at heart. So far I've only had two meetings with him so my impression hasn't changed. Everyone from the receptionists to the nutritionists are very professional but also very warm and approachable. Dr. Jamal is a big supporter of continuing aftercare. I had the option of signing up to be tracked for life during my journey by University Hospitals in order to help the doctors, students and other patients see what the future holds for WLS patients. As for the risks of surgery Dr. Jamal didn't hold anything back and was completely upfront and forward. He explained possible complications and results and gave all the statistics with it. Overall I would recommend anyone seeking WLS in Iowa to make a trip to Iowa City to meet with him and his staff. It is truly worth it! "
