Got the okay to just cover my JP hole with a bandaid since it's not seeping anymore. She said it should take a few days to crust over. I expect I'll have a nice scar from it. The day was gorgeous. About 66 degrees. However our driveway is a mess! It will be nice when it gets warm and stays warm and then things dry out. Bought Allison her first ball. She is totall in love with it. It's green with a Pooh on it.

Went for my check-up and they took JP out. Not a pleasant experience but at least he was gone. Was given instructions to clean my hole and change the dressing 3x a day. That night I freaked out and had to have Joe do it. It was just way too gross and I couldn't do it. Actually drove after I got home for the first time since surgery.

Ended up in the ER because JP was infected. Had to be the worst pain ever! Gave me a prescription for antibiotics that were probably the size of my new tummy! Got home and took a pain killer and crashed for awhile.

Went to Walmart to get groceries. I think I way overdid it. We walked that store for 2 hours! Then I cought my JP tubing on the baby gate in the computer room and then again on the corner of the bathroom sink. Getting better at milk, water and broth.

After work Joe called the Gilman Fire Dept. and someone checked on our house and we finally got electric back. It was nice to have somewhere to stay but even better having our own home back! The house was a mess and Joe wouldn't let me do anything but relax. He and the kids went to the Fire Dept. for supper and I inventoried what we lost in the fridge and freezer. Amounted to around $250. It was so nice to sleep in our own bed!!

Joe went back to work and Brian had the day off. He and I watched the kids( all 5 of them) ages 7, 5, 2, 17 months and 14 months. It was kind of a zoo but not too bad. Allison wanted to climb all over me but I tried my best to accomodate her. She also kept stealing sippies from the others. They only drink juice and we only giver her milk and water. Her little butt was raw from all that juice. Joe and I went to Walmart after he got off work and picked me up milk and broth. Then we did laundry. Felt like crap but nice to spend time with my hubby. By the time we got back everyone else was in bed.

Finally got released from the hospital at 3:30. We ended up going to Brian and Heather's since we still didn't have electric. We stopped by Jo's and got the recliner so I could be somewhat comfy there. It was a very bumpy ride home and I was depressed because I wanted to go home..not somewhere else.

Had my Upper GI at 8 and puked my way through that. Everytime I got up to walk I got sick. My new tummy was pretty unstable. Finally got to start drinking water and that was better. Also got some broth (nasty salty stuff) and milk. Didn't do much of those as pouch was still awfully swollen. Joe, Jo, Jessica and Allison came to visit before they went home. Jo went to stay with a friend in Grinnell and Joe and the kids went to Marshalltown to stay with Brian and Heather. Jess did much better seeing me that time as all my tubes and scary stuff were gone.

Got to the hospital just before 6 to check in. Surgery scheduled for 8. Went thru all the stabbing and poking. Last thing I remember was saying goodbye to Joe and them wheeling me down the hall. Next thing I remember is waking up in my room and Joe watching TV. Felt like I had done sit-ups all day long. Was pretty tired and not very sociable. Joe left and brought the kids back. Allison was busy buzzing all over and Jessica sat on my bed crying. I think she was scared by all the tubes and stuff but also relieved that I was okay. They didn't stay long and I channel surfed and napped.

Woke up to no water. More ice, snow and rain overnight. Packed up and picked up Jo and headed to Iowa City to get a hotel. Can't stay at home with no electic and no water. Found a room at the Heartland Inn. Jess was happy because they had a pool. Allison got to swim for the first time! Joe was holding her and she kept trying to get away and do it herself. For 17 months she sure is a little waterbug!
