Starting Point
Jun 23, 2009
Yesterday I went to my PCM for my referral for WLS. I was granted referral and given some basic instructions.
Step 1. Attend the WLS class part 1
Step 2. See the nutritionist
Step 3. Attend the WLS class part 2
Step 4. See the shrink
So I am off to a slow start because the next WLS class is not until the end of July. That is kind of a bummer but atleast the ball is rolling now. I am wondering if I can see the nutritionist before going to the class?!!? I will find out today. Anyway, this is where I am at right now.
Good news - I got dressed for work and my slacks were slightly roomy. That was a good feeling. Also I had my blood work done yesterday and my choloestoral is under control. In fact, it is in the GOOD range! Big shocker since I have not been taking my meds, but I have been dieting. So maybe dieting did the trick??!!? I am waiting to see the results of my thyroid test. The DR said my thyroid was extremely enlarged and that can be a sign of thyroid cancer. She is scheduling an ultresound. She also bumped up my thyroid meds from 25mcg to 125mcg!! WOOAH! I really wish I could find someone that had WLS and had a severe thyroid problem before the surgery to see how the disease affected their WLS results.
Ok well, that is it for today. Wish me luck in my journey! XOXO

Working Out - Again
Jun 18, 2009
I haven't worked out (hard core) since I got out of the Army last year. That was until last night when I got a wild hair to do something about this situation. I did 5 miles of sprints on my stationary bike and 150 crunches. I also brought my dumbbells to work and I am trying to work my arms a couple times a day. I wish I could run again but I am happy that I can walk. At one point a doctor told me I may have a severe limp and impair my walking, but here I am - skipping along and hopefully one day running again! I have a bunch of wonderful motivators in my life - my family and friends. "CAN'T" is no longer in my vocabulary. I am going to make this happen. Once a soldier, always a soldier! xXoXx
