I was thin until I was in my 30s. That's because I started smoking so young that I didn't have any idea that food actually tasted good!  When I quit smoking, I decided that I'd just go ahead and eat as much as I wanted, until I was used to not smoking, and then I'd just go back to not eating.  It didn't work!  I had discovered that almost all food is delicious!
For the last 25 years, I've tried every diet and yo-yo'd up and down, each time going a little bit more "up".
I started reading all about weight loss surgeries and putting in my time with my medical group's  six months required weight supervision.
First I wanted the DS because I'd have a more-or-less normal stomach and malabsorbtion, so I was sure that was the best way to lose weight.  Then I started thinking maybe it should be the RNY since that's the most common and has been "tried and true" over the years.  Recently, I've been looking more and more at the VSG. I'd still have a pretty normal (albeit, small) stomach and no malabsorbtion.
From what I've read on this board, if I use this tool right, I'll can still be successful at losing the amount of weight I want to lose.
I don't know what I'd do without this board as a resource!  It's just unbelievable being able to get this much feedback from such a broad range of people. Thank you ALL!
