18 lbs Gone!

Jul 07, 2007

Hello All,
Sorry it's been so long since I have updated.  I have been really busy between my regular work schedule and our DJ business.  My status is very good.  I feel good.  I have felt tired alot only because I wasn't getting my protein and water in like I should have.  But my sister/nurse in Nashville put the smack down on me and insisted three important things.  PROTEIN, WATER, and EXERCISE!  I took her word on that, since I was afraid she would come up to Illinois and kick me hiney into shape.  She is an excellent support system for me.  She calls me several times a week just to check my status.  And believe me, I appreciate all that support.  My family are just outstanding people to have in my life.  Even if I have only lost 1 pound, they are like the pom pom squad cheering me on.  Very positive individuals and I love all of them.
I measured last week sometime and I have lost 16.25 inches all over.  I can definitely tell a difference in my clothes.  I'm back wearing my size 20 jeans.  I had been wearing 22-24's depending on the way they were made.  I'm losing weight on my back where my bra fasins.  I don't have those buldges anymore.  I am planning on taking some updated pictures around the 20th of the month.  I took the before surgery pics as well, but I haven't posted those up here yet.  But I will.  Today I'm working till noon and then have a baby shower at 2pm, then a karaoke gig at 7pm.  So again, I will be busy.  Well I had better go for now.  Love to you all!

Going Back to Work Tomorrow :(

Jun 26, 2007

Today is my 6th day post op and I'm feeling pretty good.  I went to see the surgeon yesterday and he said I looked fabulous.  Meaning I was getting around great.  I'm still having the aching shoulders though.  I'm sure ready for that to stop.  My incisions are healing nicely.  I wasn't aware that I had stitches but I found one last night.  I felt something poking my skin and had Jim look at it and sure enough it was a stitch.  Pointy little sucker too.  I was able to drink down approximately 48 ounces of fluid yesterday not counting my meals.  I had 4 oz of potato soup for lunch and supper and then last night my stomach was ordering me to have 4 oz of yogurt.  And when I say ordering me, I mean that.  I have these hunger pains that don't quit until I feed it a little something.  And little is all it requires, so calm down mother! LOL. I weighed this morning and I have lost 16 pounds since 6-8-07, that's 19 days.  Not that I'm counting. haha.  Dr Syd and Dr Tull told me yesterday that they are more concerned with the healing process than with losing weight right now.  We will concentrate on the real weight loss after my first fill.  I am anxious to start using my weight machine so I can start toning.  I can't yet because of the incisions but look out when I can.

So far this morning I had my 8oz Unjury chocolate protein shake and it was good.  Tastes like chocolate milk (a little less chocolatey than I like it).  The dietician also said I can start taking my flinestone vitamins now even though I'm still technically on full liquids.  She wants me to start taking Viactiv(A calcium supplement) after my first fill.  I have to take those twice daily.

Well I have written enough for now.  I have to do laundry, dishes and straighten the house now.  Gotta get prepped to go back to work tomorrow.  Talk with you all later.

4th day Post Op

Jun 24, 2007

My surgery went very well.  I went into surgery around 10am and the surgeon was out talking to my family by 11:15am.  I was out of recovery and back to my room by 1:30pm.  I would have been there sooner but they were so busy and didn't have a room to put me in.  When I made it back to my room I slept for a little while longer and was up and out in the car ready to leave by 3:30pm.  The people at Carle Hospital were wonderful.

The last few days have been rough due to bloating and not being able to burp!  There are times that I can't tell whether I'm actually hungry or its just pains from the surgery.  Ok..and the whole drink, drink, drink thing, well that is very slow.  I think the first day after surgery I only took in maybe a total of 12 ounces.

Just a little hint for those who have an upcoming band surgery, if you can live without the heavy duty pain medicine, do it!  I honestly wasn't in that much pain regarding the incisions.  I needed some medicine for my headaches I was getting.  If you avoid the Loratab meds you will have less dizziness and nausea.   Stick with Tylenol.

I have lost a total of 13.75 lbs since June 8, 2007.  The only things I have managed to eat so far have been popsycles, potato soup, jello and tomato soup.  It doesn't seem like a whole lot but you don't require as much now.

Thanks again to all of the support everyone has given me, especially my parents.  My mother has been by my side the whole way.  I call her the drill sargent.  I mean that in a good way.  She has waited on my hand and foot even when you was feeling quite up to it.  Thank you Mother!

And to my fiance Jim, your support means more to me than you can ever possibly know.  He went on the liquid diet with me and lost 15 pounds.  He gives me endless encouragement and love.  What more could I ask for.

Well that's all for now, I've already written a novel here.  I go to the doctor tomorrow for my first post op visit.  I will keep eveyone posted.
Love to all of you!

Today is the big day!!

10lbs Gone!

Jun 16, 2007

Just a little note to let you all know that I have lost 10lbs as of this morning.  I'm really excited about that.  I have been staying under 700 calories a day. Let me tell you that isn't easy.  But I'm already starting to feel better.  I can move around better already as well.  What a difference that makes.  Thanks for all of everyones support i'm off to a dj gig now in Flora.

I'm down 8lbs!

Jun 14, 2007

Well, I've now lost 8lbs since last Friday.  So that's not to shabby for a week's diet.  Still on the liquids.  My surgery is now 5 days away.  That's a good thing too, since I'm ready to eat a 52 ounce cheeseburger.  I won't since I've been really good so far and will continue to be.  My willpower was tested today when my morning teller brought in an omlet with hashbrowns and toast.  It smelled so good!  Then this afternoon every one of my tellers had some sort of chocolate blizzard from DQ.  My order was a Medium Diet Coke.  Yummy huh!  I had my SlimFast for lunch.  What a FEAST!  I'm staying positive though.  Thanks to all of my family for all the loving encouragement. (Mother & Alicia)  Oh and Uncle Wayne for always thinking I'm cute no matter what size I have been.  That means alot.  I love all of you!

Just Waiting for My Surgery Date

Jun 12, 2007

Yesterday I went up to Carle Clinic in Urbana to have all of my pre-op activities done.  I spoke with the pre-op nurse, anethesia nurse, insurance, had my lab work done and my EKG and chest X-Ray done.  It took approximately 3 1/2 hours to accomplish everything.  Now, I'm just waiting on my surgery date to roll around.  I know it will be here before I know it.  I'm looking forward to getting home and eating my frozen dinner.  I actually didn't get to take a lunch at work so the only things I have had today have been one diet lipton green tea and two bottles of water.  I'm still so excited about the Lean Cuisine dinners that I am able to have for supper.  Yippee!  I was down another pound this morning.  So that's 7LBs now.  RAH RAH RAH!!!  Hopefully another pound off tomorrow!

Update on my liquid diet

Jun 11, 2007

Well, I'm on my 4th day of liquids.  It's going alright so far.  Yesterday was a little trying since I was home all day and just being lazy.  I really had to use my willpower.  I did very well.  I did not go over 600 calories all day.  Luckily, my dietician told me that I can have one frozen dinner in the evening as long as it does not go over 350 calories and not to exceed 1000 calories a day.  I was so excited to know that I can have one solid food item in the evenings instead of all liquids.  So I have been eating Lean Cuisine dinners.  I have lost 6 pounds so far.  I know this is probably all "water weight".  But I will take it.  I have my pre-op visit today to get my chest x-ray, lab work, ekg, physical, and meet with the insurance department and anethesia.  This is going to take all afternoon.  At least it will keep my mind off of food until this evening.  Well, I'd better take off and get to my appointment.

Liquids Liquids Liquids

Jun 09, 2007

I'm now into my 2nd day of liquids only 11 more days to go.  Yesterday went by quick.  I worked all day and then had to drive 2 hours to a singing competition (Colgate County Showdown) in Carmi, Illinois.  So all I had yesterday was one SlimFast, diet green tea, jello, diet coke.  By the time I got home it was 1am and time to go to bed so I could be at work by 7:45am today.  Well I'm getting ready to drink some more water now.. Toodles for now.

Almost time for LIQUID DIET

There's only 8 more days until my liquid diet.  I'm getting more and more excited as every day goes by.  If anyone has any suggestions as to what they ate while on their diet please let me know or give me ideas.  I would greatly appreciate it.  My surgery is just around the corner!! YIPPEE!!
