Surgery was 6 days ago and I'm feeling fine!  I can already tell this was a good decision.  I felt very bloated for the first 5 days but today I feel almost back to normal.  The incisions are so tiny that I barely notice them.  I'm already down 7 pounds in 6 days....that's never happened before.  The best part though is that I don't ever feel hungry or a huge desire to eat.  I'm sure the desire to eat will reappear at some point but for now I'm content to just drink what I'm supposed to.  The protein is easy to get in thanks to Proti-Diet which is a line of soups, drinks, hot chocolate, jello and pudding that all have 15 gr of protein per serving.  Don't know what I'd do without them!  The only real pain I'm experiencing right now is that every now and then I can feel some gas squeezing its way through a tight spot somewhere.  I'm sure as the swelling goes down this will subside.
Anyway, so far so good!

Just received my call from Barix and I am booked in to have surgery on January 14 2009 and I couldn't be more excited!  It's two months from tomorrow and I am pumped.  I feel like my hope has been renewed and that I don't have to live my life as a fat person anymore!  Until now I thought I'd be fat forever because I've been up and down so many times and couldn't keep it off.  I know this surgery is a tool to help me manage my weight and I think that combined with the knowledge that I will have to manage my weight forever will help me to stay focussed and keep it off.  Thank God for WLS and OHIP funding!

Bev Lyman at OHIP called my cell phone yesterday and apologized for the delay but said she signed my approval letter the night before (this woman works holidays and evenings as well as days) so I have a verbal approval but just need the written one to book the big day!  I'm so excited!!!!

I had my consultation with Dr Pop on Oct 27 and it went great!  What a nice guy and he had nice, warm, steady hands and a sense of humour to boot!  The great news is that he cleared me of having any tests prior to surgery because I'm "young and bullet proof".  So, once I hear back from Ohip I just have to set a date.  Yippee!
