I'm 40 years old and tired of being obese!  I have been fat all my life except for a brief few months when I decided to go on Weight Watchers. I worked the program and lost over 100lbs.  I felt great and didn't look half bad. Then I let circumstances in my life rule me and I turned back to my old habits and stuffed food down trying to feel better.  What I got was Fat again!

I have a brother-in-law that had the RYN surgery and lost almost 200lbs - I was jealous, so I ate!  Then my sister-in-law had Lap-Band surgery and once again I ate out of jealousy!  She got stuck at 30 pounds lost and learned to eat around the band.  So now I wake up out of my fat-coma and decided I needed help losing the weight & turned to my insurance company for help.  They tell me Lap-Band is excluded but RYN would be covered if I met all their requirements. 1. Be 100lbs over weight or have a BMI over 40 - GOT THAT COVERED  2. Been on a doctor sponsored weight loss plan for 6 months with little success - Got That!  3.  Documented proof of prior weight loss plan - Got That with Weight Watchers Records 4. Have at least one of the following co-morbidity for at least two years - Diabetes, High Blood Pressure or be unable to move without wheelchair assistance!!!!  - Oops I'm not sick enough for them, so they will not cover any kind of WLS!   I'm very lucky to not have diabetes, high blood pressure or any other major illness!  So If I was going to have WLS I was going to be self pay!!!!!!!!!!!

I got in touch with a friend who has had great success with her band and started asking for referrals of doctors. I found a doctor that comes highly recommended and made a call to his office. His office staff seems top notch. They lead me through the steps and made my appointment for the doctors seminar on May 6th,2009.  At the seminar I will be able to make an appointment to see the doctor for consult and then on to the next steps.  So the ball is rolling.

A little more facts about me personally:  I have been married to the most wonderful man for the past 19 and a half years. We chose not to have any children before we married and we never have seconded guessed our choice.  I'm on staff with an insurance agent and have been here for almost 21 years. My DH is an X-Ray Tech.

Now that is my life in a few paragraphs!
