A little Update:

Dec 20, 2009

Well my year anniversary of my surgery has gone and went -  and I though a little about it and never did a year update - It has been a really fantastic journey - sure it was difficult in the beginning - but I really just toke each day at a time and I keep very busy - I work full time as a RN at out local hospital and picked up a casual position at a Retirement Home on my weekends off to make a little extra and hopefully get out of debt. I really want to change so many things that I get frustrated - but my husband and I always remind each other that we "are a work in progress" and have a little chuckle -
I also am a mom of 2 boys - 15 and 11 - so it is pretty busy around here.

So weight loss has been really good - I have lost 152 lbs - and feel really good - I have really slowed down - but that is to be expected - I can tolerate a little bit of almost any food - I don't like how ice cream makes me feel- all gurgle and crampy inside - and I don't tolerate bread well - wraps and english muffins are fine - I can have about 4 bites of cookie or chocolate - just enough to have a taste - and I am very content -

I have gone from a tight size 28 to a 16 - so clothes shopping is getting more enjoyable.

I continue to be amazed at the love and support I receive from friends and family and have made some great new friends through this website -  we have a small but wonderful support group in the Peterborough area - and if anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Take Care

PATT DONE

Oct 08, 2008

I had a busy day yesterday - went to Dr Hagen's office first to get my OPTIFAST and then had to get over to Humber for my PATT.  I don't like to drive in T.O. but I got through it with the help of my co-pilot - my DH.
It was a long day - but glad to have all of that done -
One thing that I found disappointing at Humber is that they did not have a Bariatric Scale in the PATS section - so the nurse had to take me up to the fifth floor - that is a tad bit embarasing when you are to heavy for the scale - but she was great -mad me feel very comfortable and seemed excited for me - about my decision to have this surgery.

So on the way home - I realized that the next time I go up to T.O. will be for my surgery - so that was very exciting.

Start Optifast on the 14th -

Pre-Op Stuff

Jun 23, 2008

I have completed the gastric bypass class at Humber last week and am going for a sleep apnea test tomorrow night. Then I guess just wait for the phone call for a surgery date - Dr Hagen thought it would be by the end of this year - so I will be waiting anxiously to hear from his office.
