10 Days Post-Op

 5/30/08
OK, a lot can change in 10 days! :)  I feel really great!  I can't feel the band at all and my surgical wounds are shrinking away more and more every day.  I am eating soft foods and tolerating very well.  I see Doctor Simpson on Monday for my post-op appointmen in Phoenix on Monday.  I'm not really looking forward to that 3 hour drive but I can't wait to see how I'm doing.  I'm hoping he will let me start eating solids then.  I'm just really confused on what a portion is right now - still feeling my way around that.  I feel a lot better though since I decided to stop being afraid to eat.  I didn't want to hurt myself or the band so I think I was eating way less than what I should have been.  Yesterday I ate 2 oz's of salmon, 2 oz's of mashed potatoes and 3 oz's of green beans.  I was satisfied for about 5 hours after that meal.  It was great!  I am excited for the future.  I can't wait to learn how to really use this new tool.  I know that soon it will be a natural part of me and I will know exactly what to do.  I will post more later after my appointment!

Hi everyone!  I made it!  Woo hoo!  I had my surgery on Wednesday, 5/21/08 in Phoenix with Doctor Simpson and his staff.  They were AWESOME!  The entire experience was great and I enjoyed every minute of it (as much as you can enjoy it anyway).  I am so grateful for this opportunity that the pain isn't bothering me too much.  I am convinced that Dr. Simpson and the lap-band, were the absolute best choice for me.  His staff is the best and everyone made me feel very comfortable.  They kept everything light and joked around a lot.  They were awesome.  After the surgery, I woke up in the recovery room and drank some tea and used the restroom.  After keeping the tea down for a few minutes, I pushed my wheelchair to my room where I was able to rest and walk.  I had some broth and water and a couple of hours later, the good doctor came to see me and he let me go home!  My mom and I spent the night in Phoenix and she drove me home (to Sierra Vista) on Thursday (5/22).  We stopped along the drive so that I could get out and walk.  It was great to come home.  I have not had any narcotic pain meds for the last two days and I seem to be healing very well.  I do get tired quickly though.  I guess that's to be expected after surgery. :)  Anyway, just wanted to check in and tell everyone that I made it just fine.  My post-op visit is scheduled for 6/2/08.  I will post more then!
