Happy wonderful New Years

Jan 01, 2009

Hubby took me out dancing at a party to welcome in the New Year.  It felt woderful to have his arms around me as we danced.  I love dancing and this is the first time in about 20 years since we have been out dancing at a New Years party.  Usually we welcome the New Year by sleeping and waking up the next day and say "Happy New Year."  We had so much fun last night dancing and laughing with new friends.  Would never have been able to do this without the surgery.  Got a WII for Christmas.  Also bought the WII fitness and WII Personal Trainer.  After four days I have lost another four pounds.  I love the WII and highly recommend.  Life is great.

New update

Dec 27, 2008

Well it has been 21 months and I am down to 136 pounds and I'm in a size 6 petite. This has been the ride of my life.  I'm really at a stand still but am happy with my weight.  My husband say's I've lost enough.  I tend to agree.  I am so thankful that I took this journey and did not chicken out.  It's amazing how wonderful I feel and to see the response to people who have not seen me in a while.  I feel beautiful now, and did not realize how unhappy I was with my weight until, it's not an issue now.  It is so fun shopping, and I have become a shoe freak.  I LOVE SHOES!!!

I do not recognize the person in the photos of 21 months ago and earlier.  My family keeps saying, they do not remember me being that big.  It felt great this Christmas when my 8 year old granddaughter hugged me and put her arms all the way around me and said "Me Me I'm so glad I can put my arms all the way around you.  I felt so proud.   I love my family so much.  I'm glad my health is what it is now, so I know I will be here to see them grow up.  No more diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol.  Praise the Lord.

I wish I had done this 20 years ago.  I love going on all the roller coasters and not being embarassed to have belt extentions on.  To ride in an airplane comfortably and to sit in the theatre and not be so tight feeling in the seat.

It's been a great ride.  I am thankful for this Website to give us support. Life is good.

Update

Sep 21, 2008

Down to 140 pounds now in a size 8 petite. Everything is going great.  No problems at all.  Am so happy for this miracle.  Just got back from a cruise.  Compared cruise pictures from last year to this year and wow, what a difference a year makes.  Wish I had done this 20 years ago.  I wasted a lot of good years and spent lots of good money on medications to keep me alive.  It's wonderful not to have health problems any more and now I spend that medicaton money on clothes that I used to wish I could fit in to and look good in.  I love my life.  Whats funny is, I have not seen my in-laws in 7 years.  My husband and I attended a family funeral and his parents were there along with his aunts and uncles.  No one knew who I was.  I walked up to my mother in law and said "Hi mom, how are you?" She said, fine, how are you.  I walked away and a few mintues later she walked up to me and said "excuse me, who are you?  I said, Mom, it is me, Debra, she could not beleive, it was me, and went around to everybody and said, have you seen Deb, she looks beautiful, she has lost so much weight.  Everybody started coming up to me and saying to my husband, she looks like your daughter instead of your wife.  I was so proud and so was my husband.  What a great day, even if it was at a funeral.

My Journey after a year

May 03, 2008

Well, I went for my  one year check up and have lost 110 lbs since I started this Journey.  I now weigh 146 and wear a size 10 petite.  Life is great.  I feel beautiful but most important is I feel healthy.  No more blood pressure, now more diabetes but my labs showed an elevated liver enzymes.  After an ultrasound it was discovered that I had gall stones. I had surgery to remove my gallbladder and Dr. Moran, my gastric bypass surgeon did the surgery.  All went well.  I don't have to go back to see Dr. Moran until next year.  He will never know what he as meant to me.  God is good.

6 month check up

Oct 03, 2007

Had my 6 month check up. All labs were normal except Vit. D. Was low. I'm now in a size 12 to 14. My live is wonderful. For the first time in my life I love shopping and don't mind having my picture taken. Also for the first time in my life people call me little and tell me I don't need to loose any more weight.  Life is great. My husband is crazy about me and tells me how beautiful I am.  I still at times think like a fat person but when I try on clothes it I discover that person no longer exist.

Life is great

Jul 09, 2007

Well it's been 4 months since my new life started. I must say I am so happy I took the plunge and had this surgery that I have wanted for so long.  I have so far lost 68 pounds.  I feel great and am down to a size 14 from a 22-24.  I work out with my husband at the YMCA 3 days a week.  My energy level has sky rocketed and I am no longer on any medication for diabetes, hypertension or cholesterol.  I get more compliments than you can imagine and one of the residents at the Assisted Living that I work at said to me, "dont loose anymore wt. You are at the perfect size.  I do not ever remember anyone saying that to me.  The greatest part of it all is, my wonderful husband of 31 years, who is working out with me and letting me share a plate with him when we go out has lost almost 50 lbs and is down to a size 38 pants and large shirts from size 44 pants and XXL shirt.

I recently got a huge promotion and a salary increase of 18 thousand dollars, and wonder if I had not had this lifesaving surgery if it would have even been offered to me. I give God the glory for the things he has done.  I do not post much on the forums, though I read them several times a day.

Weeks Later

Mar 16, 2007

Well here I am 2 weeks post surgery and I am doing great. I am now at 228 lbs. Down from 242 at Surgery. I had really thought that I would be down more, but I know it is just that I am ready to see onderland ASAP. I was really proud at work yesterday when several members of my staff commented, wow, you look great. You have lost a lot of weight, how did you do it?  No one knows that I had weight loss surgery except my nurse on staff, (I am the administrator of an assisted living).  Haven't really had any problems, except yesterday, I guess I forgot I had surgery and attempted to eat some fish without chewing well, and it came up as fast as I put it down, it was terrible.

I am so happy I made the decision to have this surgery.  I can't wait until this summer when I know a lot more weight will be comining off. My husband and I are planning a cruise. I can't wait, as I know I will have a lot more energy than if I did not have the surgery. I am looking forward to getting on with the rest of my life.

It was fun trying on a pair of jeans that had been hanging in my closet to see how much I would have to loose to get into them, and then finding that now they are loose on me. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
