Post-Op Day 12
Jan 27, 2007
My surgery went well, no complications other than a horrible bariatric bed that I couldn't get in or out of (not going there, way too whiney). I've been home since the 18th and I'm feeling great. I weighed immediately upon returning home and was so disappointed about a HUGE weight gain after losing 15 pounds on a liver-shrinking plan 2 weeks before surgery. With all the IVs I had going, I can't be surprised. Now it's day 12, and I've lost (drum roll please) 24 pounds since coming home! Yes, I know it's all fluid, but I feel so much better already! Life is awesome!
Approved, scheduled, and ready to go!

My open gastric bypass with the handy-dandy Fobi pouch is scheduled for January 15. 2007, and I could not be more thrilled! I am working on having essential supplies (blender, protein powder, etc.) all purchased, and I've already packed up my big summer clothes to make more space in my closet for the small clothes to come. My mother-in-law has graciously bought me a Lazyboy recliner for my recovery, bless her heart. My husband, brother and sweet sis-in-law have joined with me to form "Team Donna". They are working to have me mentally and more physically fit so the surgery and recovery go as easily as possible.
I am so thrilled to be on the road to a better life!

Consultation Today!
Oct 24, 2006
My consultation went very well today! Barbara, super WLS expert, said the letter of intent to my insurance company will be very easy to write, and that I should have a surgery date shortly! It will be in 8-12 weeks, so I'm looking at the first of the year, halleluia!! My husband went with me today, and feels much better about the entire procedure.
I also found out that I weigh 330 pounds, not the 350-360 I thought I was carrying. Hey, every little bit makes my goal a little easier to reach! My lungs are clear, heartbeat is strong, and I don't have H Pylori. Life is so good.

Having read "my story", I seem really unhappy and whiney. I am used to being the life of the party, the office jokester, the who makes everyone else smile. I hate that I am so negative! I guess when all guards are down, this is me getting honest with myself. I'm not happy in this body, and can't wait to begin the Great Escape!
The day after tomorrow will truly start the next phase of my life. There will be no more whining, and no looking back!
