Okay.....Saw 3rd office for lap band. Hated them. Left with my Medical Records in hand. They are such a rip off.
I'm so disgusted with all of these office except for Dr. S. I've decided to restrict my eating on my own or with weight watchers and attend Dr. S's Support Groups and wait for him to get Aetna......
If I see any of you at the Support Groups and you wanna know what happened I'll tell ya...

Changing Doctors Again?????
Jul 21, 2008
So here I am. Insurance Company Aetna turned down my Lap Band Hospital Portion Only because Dr. S is out of network.
Made an appointment with my PCP for this Wednesday to see what he suggests I do. 1. Go back to Dr. Fang ( who has never called me back) 2. Go to 3rd Bariactric Doctor.
Pretty disgusted with this whole process. On July 1st I was laid off work. So now on top of everything else I'm unemployed. Perfect timing to get these procedures in before hitting the streets.
I'm not getting any younger either. Turned 57 years old on July 7th. Maybe if they make me wait long enough I will be on Medicare. Don't really think i would make it that long.
I'm very frustrated with all of this. I see other people getting there surgeries done and losing and getting healthy while sit here and wait.
I have lost 15 #'s since my cardiac pre op in April. But I need to lose 70 #'s. Oh and BTW somewhere along the way I have lost and inch in height. Perfect now my BMI went up.
All for now.

Started checking lap band out in November
Apr 09, 2008
Hi Guys.....I started this loop da loop journey in November 07. Of course thinking in 2-3 months could get the lap band. So now been through all seminars, psych, surgeon and needed a cardio approval. Tomorrow stress test then next week Echo. Have PCP referral letter, Have ortho referral because of hip replacement after weight loss for better rehab. Trying to stay positive but swaying back and forth. Is this going to work for me?
Then I read all your stories and I know the insurance company will probably deny. Although with all the referrals etc how can they?
Anyway thought I'd join your group.
I am 56 years old. BMI 39 Have been overweight for 25 years and like all of us have tried every diet. I haven't been under 200 #'s for along time. I am 5'9" so I'm big anyway. I've been married to a wonderful man for 35 years and have 2 great Sons....I'm the only one with a weight problem. I look like and Apple on to popsicle sticks.
Just hoping and praying for the procedure. I was under the impression that I could go outpatient and be back at work in 3 days. Is this true? There seems to be alot of problems.
What do you guys think?
