"I had lapband surgery in April with Dr. Woodman. Although I had heard different things about his horrible bedside manner, I decided to make up my mind for myself. While I agree with other reviewers that he may be a good surgeon, I did not find his communication style very useful. I had a very difficult time getting my questions answered. For example, on several occasions, I asked a specific question about my specific case and he only answered me in general comments. I recieved conflicting information from his staff and him. I agree he is direct; I also happen to prefer a mutual exchange of information. I did not feel listened to. I'm fairly assertive and tend to ask for what I need, but I was just not able to get consistent information from he and his staff. There is one nurse, Dory, I found to be direct and assertive, yet pleasant. I've decided to change to another physician as my 3 month postop period is now complete. This is my tool - I need to be able to get questions answered and get consistent information in order to be successful long term. I had no problems immediately post-op, minimal pain and no issues with infections, I lost adequate weight. I was not dissatisfied with clinical care, just an inability to communicate effectively with me."
