5 months out today and thinking like a newbie, again!
Sep 07, 2009
Hard to believe I'm 5 months out and down 45 #. I cannot believe how much more confident and strong I feel.
I've been working with Marian (running coach) now for about 3 months, participating in my first 5K in a long time, in 2 weeks. I AM A STRONG FIT RUNNER!
I changed surgeons a couple of weeks ago; just wasn't getting the post-op support I needed from Woodman's office. Felt like the only thing consistent was inconsistencies! Saw Dr. Weaver - LOVED HER! The RD in her office is in the WRWM group. I can't wait to talk to her next visit.
I'm still having a little bit of trouble (not sure if it's real or imagined!), fueling my runs. Get really fatigued really early on, but I also haven't been pushing like I know I need to. Maybe it's deconditioning....Marian says we start to decondition after about 3 days.
I've been tighter after this fill - up to 7cc in a 14cc AP band. Really, really tight the first few days. In fact, realized that I had started "breaking the band rules", i.e., eating after a fill (not liquids, not even soft proteins!) Dr. W said, oh no, it's not a problem, and on his fills, no it wasn't. So when I tried the same plan after this one, my band friend let me know in a hurry it wasn't going to put up with that crap! In the two weeks since, I've struggled a little more with going back to the way things were. In fact, I've been a little angry that I can't eat like I'd grown accustomed to. I think that's about to pass. I'm learning to listen a little more to my band and gone back to more protein. Maybe I need to leave the gaming the system to someone else! It really doesn't hurt anyone but me.....you think I'd get that by now! Bottom line - If this is going to work for me, I have to play by the doc's rules, not mine. My plan hasn't worked for all these years, time for a new plan!

What have I learned in the last 90 days?
Jul 07, 2009
1) there is NO easy way to lose weight
2) consistency is key
3) one meal off plan doesn't have to turn into a week of poor eating behaviors
4) planning ahead makes a difference
5) surrounding myself with positive people who love me - PRICELESS! Should have done this a long time ago!

Aren't I worth it?

Weight is still hanging right at 210. Since my fill, I've had a hard time staying on track. Have eaten a lot of junk I should and some days more than I really need to. Could make lots of excuses - medication adjustments, increased stress, but the bottom line, is that I haven't lived up to my full potential. I haven't been 100% committed to this since we returned from vacation. Since we returned mid April, I have been stressed to the max with school, family issues, etc. It seems like, since then, I have faltered with meal planning and exercise since then.
This is my 4th week working with Marian, my trainer; I've even behaved in a less than committed way with her. I criticize Andy for his lack of commitment and lack of motivation; may be he doesn't get his empathy from Brian. Obviously I have this character flaw too.
So, what will it take to get me back on track? I have been the last 4 days, and of course the scale doesn't move an inch. I get very frustrated when I avoid the drive thru, exercise and the scale doesn't move. The only thing to do is to stay focused and stay on the course. I seem to be more aware when I'm logging my food into sparkpeople. True, I haven't felt bad since Karen changed my medicine.
DeAnna, you just have to stay the course. Remember the reasons you want this. To live a longer & healthier life with your family. That has to be the most important thing.
Goal 140
highest weight 237
preop weight 222
current weight 210
goal weight 140
27 gone forever, 60 to go. 1/4 of excess weight lost....
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think, I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can
