1 week and 31 pounds

Mar 03, 2009

heck yeah got on the scale and did it got past 30 pounds in the first week. Iknow things will get tough-
i am one of those drop teh first 50 quick and then you gotta work hard.

im still liquid only- getting ready to slowly transition to phase 2 with yogurt and muchie stuff...

i have not done much or really ANY exercise- so now I am feeling better and i think i can try some walking.

I work on a military base and my building is an ENORMOUS "C" with halls on each side so you can do massive laps. I atttempted my first lap today it is about 3/4 of a mile. I did it in good time and felt good. Now I need walking shoes- yiking boots dont cut it.

first goal is hit/break 300-  i can almost smell it!!!

1 Day Post Op

Feb 25, 2009

So there is def more pain today then yesterday. Pain meds are my best friend right now. Question: is the largest incision typically the port? I have the realize and looking down at my belly it is above and to the right. i ask b/c my other incisions arent really bothering me- but that one is a painful little sucker- lots of pressure in that area.

slept poorly - and found that sitting up in a chair i got more rest- so i am sleeping like that tonight- is that ok or is that a blood clot waiting to happen.

also - hey we are all friends - so for some this may be too much information - felt nervous had not had any gas issues- felt like i was going to have gas- to be safe i used to the pottie and my goodness i had diarea - how is that possible- i have literally not eaten a thing since sunday. all total i may have had 1 snack pack size jello. is that normal?

last thing -  wow - when you cough it really freakin hurts. i have tried a pillow against my belly- but that is doing little. cut i cough hard enough to open my incisions?

very last thing - wouldnt it be safe to assume 3 days of water only- wouldnt you typically lose weight? or is it my scale- which is a dinosuar. i gained 3 pounds today???

thanks all - hoping to go for a little walk tomorrow - so please continue to pray for me

Night 1 done

Feb 24, 2009

with a staggering 4.5 hours of sleep I made it through the first night. When I was asleep I was out, but when i woke i had to pee and getting out of bed was hell like. Then I would not asleep. I am about to nap again now - did you see my pics yet. Some pre op photos of me from yesterday, but I also added pics this morning of my incisions and morning meds.

no one told me i would be self injecting myself with a blood thinning med. yippy that is fun

ok then time for some sleep.

Surgery Complete

Feb 24, 2009

well i survived - it was  along day but with my amazing wifes support we all pulled through.

As best as I can tell I am pretty fortunate so far. No horrible side effects no surgical complications.

I am a bit loopy from the pain meds- so I am hoping to write more soon, but right now is definately not the best time.

The journey has begun....

Introduce myself...

Feb 03, 2009

Hi I am 32 year old Christian and live in Southern/Central NJ with my Wife and 2 beautiful girls Abby (3.5) and Claire (1.5). I am currently 345 pounds and 5'6" and reached the end of my rope. With my wife's support I started the process of finding a weight loss solution 8 months ago. I got wonderful recommendations about my doc- Miachael Nusbuam- and that is wehre i started.

I am now scheduled to have surgery on Feb 24 2009 and just got home from Pre-op blood work, xrays and EKG.

I am a military contractor by day and hardcore blogger by nite. Don't worry from 5:30 - 8 the kids ar emy focus, but I look forward to be able to play with them on the floor for 20 minutes and not work up a sweat. 8-whenever she falls asleep - typically 9:30-10 is wife time, then I am off to work teh computer until 11-12ish.

Well- that is me - I am exicted to be on this site and find people like myself - people trying to find support and answers.

I hope you follow along in my progress and I wish you the best of luck in your path to health and wellness
