Eastern Maine Medical Center

"I gave the question "How restfully quiet did you find your experience?" as poor, but that is not really a reflection of the hospital quality. It is impossible to rest in a hospital, especially when you are being awoken several times a day for vitals and meds, etc. My roommate had a very large rude family that made it uncomfortable for me when they were visiting. Although, I think the nurses could have mentioned to the family that children under the age of 14 were not allowed in the rooms for visiting and the family room was available for visits. I also think there should be a limit of 4 people per time visiting. Perhaps if there was not 8 people visiting, including toddlers at a time it would not have been so uncomfortable for me. The day nurses did not seem to be as interested in my comfort and care as my night nurses. My bed never got changed the entire two and a half days I was there because the nurse tech "forgot" the first day and the second day I "was going home anyway." I was released around 3 p.m. My night nurse team was EXCELLENT. Jen and Casey were considerate of my needs, compassionate and willing to help me and check on me on a regular basis. My day nurses never once offered to help me with my hygeine. Casey and Jen made sure I had a wash cloth and towel and helped me retrieve my clothing and toiletries so I could wash up at night and feel human. Jen talked to me about my medicines and told me that it would be OK to take pain meds if I really needed them. Casey always was gentle and considerate when she needed to wake me for my tests. I adore Jen and Casey."
