I am a 34 year old mother of two.  I have had weight issues since I graduated from high school in 1991 but has gotten worse in the past 11 years after the birth of my first daughter.  My husband was on the heavy side and had bariatric surgery July 2005 (6'1" and 420 lbs).  I decided in August of 2007 that I needed to make a life changing decision.  I have many medical issues like high cholesterol and blood pressure, asthma, and there are more.  Unfortunately, I also found out recently that my husband had an affair and it was very heart breaking to me.  My decision for surgery was not because of the affair, but because for once in my life, I needed to do something for me.  Something that could change my life in a more positive way.  The dieting and the ups and downs with weight was just not helping and the number of pills I was taking was rediculous for a person my age.  I prayed about it A LOT and talked with other friends who had the surgery.  I finally decided that dieting and exercise were not enough and I needed to do something now or the effects later on could be bad.  I had gastric bypass surgery on 1/2/08 and I have absolutely NO regrets.  I feel great...I am losing weight...my self esteem is on the rise...and I am excited for the outcome.  One thing that I have learned from this experience is that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you.  If you love yourself, then that is enough.  Take care of yourself (whether you have this surgery or not) and make time for yourself.  We are all beautiful and unique people no matter what our size or shape is.  So far, I feel great and am very please wth my progress.  I am 17 days post op. and people can't believe that I had surgery and am doing so well.  I wish the best of luck to all and don't hesitate to add me to your friends list.  Support from others is the key to success.
