"UPDATE - 1 YEAR POST OP (VSG)rnI am now 197.5 pounds. I still email Dr. Jossart on various questions from time to time and despite the fact that he is incredibly busy, he still makes it a point to respond. His knowledgable staff is also there for questions as well. I think that both Dr. Jossart and Dr. Cirangle are very sincere in their desire to help obese patients succeed. I still utilize their post op packet. rnrnI have not regretted my choice of surgery or my surgeon. rnrnMy only regret is that I wish I lived closer to take full advantage of LAPSF's excellent follow up care and peer support groups. That being said, LAPSF's dieticians have offered telephone conferencing that has proved beneficial. rnrn*****rnOriginal PostrnDr. Jossart fulfilled my expectations as a highly skilled and knowledgeable surgeon. From the first time I met him, I could tell that he was an individual passionate about what he does. He is very generous in sharing his vast knowledge of the various procedures and wants his patients to make a decision which is best suited for them. He is patient and he is a very good listener. To him no question is dumb. I believe that he is earnest is wanting to see each of his patients succeed from day one.rnHis staff? They are amazing! From finance to front office, each and every staff member will extend every courtesy possible in educating you in all facets of the bariatric process. Many of the protein supplements needed immediately after post op are readily available through LAPSF. The dietician is available for consultation and the PA Christine is incredible too!rnThe follow up care is exceptional. Dr. Jossart expects you to read your information packet and read it well. I read my 20 times over and it is filled with so much great material I get most of my questions answered just by reading. However, should anything serious arise, they expect you to call them and will provide you with a number. They will call you back within an hour or two, no matter what time of the day it is.rnThe risks are laid out to you in the packet you receive after your initial consultation and he does go over the risks in detail during the actual consult. (Obesityhelp has a good list of the various risks as well!)rnDr. Jossart has an excellent bedside manner and as a surgeon I believe that he and Dr. Cirangle are pioneering the way to greater advances in Bariatric Surgery. "I was so impressed with this hospital. The rooms were quiet and the nurses were so attentive. The bed was of an ample size to hold my wide girth comfortably. They installed a trapeze bar above my bed to help me get in and out of bed with ease and the nurses made sure I was always ahead of the pain. That is so very important. But I think what was the nicest thing about the hospital was, the nurses brought in a roll away cot for my husband to lie on without my husband or myself ever mentioning anything. My husband decided to sleep next to the bed in a nice reclining chair that they provided. This is a great hospital with an amazing staff!"
"From the moment that I arrived at CPMC I felt welcomed. My husband and I went into to admitting room and I changed into my hospital gown. I was covered with warm fuzzy socks and a nice warm blanket. I think if I were allowed to have any food or drink that day, they would have brought me a cup of hot cocoa...lol,
just kidding. They really made me feel comfortable and at ease. My husband was allowed to stay in my room, they even wheeled him in a cot without our request. My husband enjoyed their reclining chairs that they had in the room as well. "
