Three Months Post Op
Jul 11, 2007
Hello! Sorry this is a little late. The month of June really kept me busy, which is a good thing. I stayed busy by working summer school and keeping up with my two wonderful energetic children. We put up an above ground swimming pool which we have enjoyed almost everynight. I have found various ways to keep moving the entire time we are in it and I really think it is helping me loose a little weight. We average about an hour and a half walking, swimming, lifting, and having fun 5 times a week.
To date I am down 57 lbs. from my highest weight from this past January. I am now 329 (it feels so good to be in the twenties!) So to date I have lost about 40 lbs. since my surgery March 28th, 2007. (I lost about 20lbs. proir to the surgery. I have a long way to go, but I feel good about my progress thus far.
The lap band is only a tool. I have days where I can eat about anything and get a little out of control. However, I know I would be eating a lot more if I did not have it. I have good days and bad days, but overall more good than bad. It is hard for me to get out walking in this South Carolina "wet" heat but as mentioned abouve the pool has been wonderful. I am in the process of changing jobs, so my stress level is a little elevated, but i take one day at a time.
I am looking forward to my second fill on July 31st. I will post again after the fill to update about my 4th month post op.

Two Months Post-Op
May 29, 2007
Life is so much sweeter now that I have had my first fill. Two weeks prior to the fill, on May 22nd, I was eating way too much and anything I wanted. Breads, no problem, rice, no problem, anything. Well that has changed now. I am back on regular food, but can not eat every much, yeah!! During the eating two weeks I managed not to gain any weight back, but I did not loose any either. However, from Wednesday to Sunday after the fill I lost 5 pounds. I love my band!!!
I am an emotional eater. It does not matter the emotion, I eat. Before the band I ate a lot and never seemed full. Now I eat a little and feel satisfied for hours. My day no longer revolves around food and where my next meal comes from. Infact, I had to stop myself Saturday and ask why my kids were being so fussy while we were shopping. When I looked at my watch I could not believe it was already lunch time. They were hungry and not me.
Firends and family have commented on the difference they can already see. It is harder for me to see the weight loss, but I can feel it and I am wearing small clothes. Two months out I have dropped 41 lbs. from my highest weight and 28lbs. since the surgery. I have loss two sizes in my tops and bottoms.
My challenge right now is getting in the exercise I know I need daily. I am in the middle of changing jobs and can't seem to make the time to walk in the afternoons. I am more active with my children, so I'll count this as a blessing. Everyday I will add this to my list of things to do until it becomes a habit.
Until next month... keep a positive attitude and blessing will come your way.

One Month Post Op
May 02, 2007
It is hard to believe it has been a month since my surgery. I am very happy with the success I have had (36 lbs down). The first few weeks were very easy. I was not hungry at all and found myself forcing myself to eat. In the past week I have found the hunger is coming back, but I am doing pretty good at chooseing high protein foods and staying away from junk. My clothes are fitting better and I have been able to dig out clothes I have not worn in two years. That makes me feel really good.
I have celebrated my birsthday during this first month and found out how loving and supportive my husband really is. My 4 and 2 year old children wanted to have a birthday party, so he took them to the store to get the stuff. When it came to getting a cake he bought an extra small cake we could all share for that night. I had a small peice and it hit the spot. The beauty of it was that I did not have to look at all week as they munched on it. That was a blessing.
One thing I have done is started a photo album tracking my weight loss per month. I have a few pictures of me at my highest weight, one right before surgry, one a week after, and now every month I will add updated pictures. I am also including an information card to tell about the up and downs of the month. This in conjunction of my daily food journal which has really helped me stay focused.
That is all the time I have for now. See you next month!

The Journey
Mar 04, 2007
I am three weeks pre-op. I am getting very excited that my day is soon to arrive. I start my pre-op high protein diet tomorrow and will be attending the informational seminar on the do's and don't's. I am excited for the metomorphasis getting ready to happen. I have always felt like the big fat caterpillar waiting in the crysilist ready for the right time to break through as a beautiful butterfly. I feel the changes are being made inside and know that in the near future I will be set free to live life with not limitations.
