I got on the scale for my Monday morning weight check and much to my surprise I've hit the 100 pound mark! I knew I was getting closer but I didn't think I'd be there this week. Last week I weighed on Tuesday since we were out of town on Monday and I had only lost 1 pound from the previous week so I had 9 pounds to go for the 100 pounds. So I lost 9 pounds in one week! That's the most I've lost in a week in quite awhile!
Funny thing is that I now weigh less than when I got out of college and started taking Phen-Fen but I'm certainly not the same size. I'm probably about the same size as I was when I got married. Guess having babies does that to a person's body. Oh well, they were well worth it! :) Love my babies!!
Everything else is going pretty well. I stay away from cheese, milk, whey protein, etc so I don't get the gas pains nearly as much as I did before. I'm tolerating most other foods with no major problems, just much smaller amounts.
I'm still looking for another job. I haven't hit the job search real hard but I've had a few leads here and there.
I'm not sure yet what my next mini goal will be. Probably to be able to fit into my 22/24 clothes. That or getting below 200 lbs. Now I'm only 54 pounds away which seems so unreal!! I can't remember the last time I was under 200 pounds!

Scale update
May 15, 2007
I had my 4 month post op visit with Dr. Eibes last Thursday. I was 271 on his scale which means I am down 83 pounds. Pre-op on his scale I was 354. I went home and weighed on my scale right away to see how close my scale is to theirs and I think mine was 1 lb higher. So it's good to know it's pretty accurate. I had weighed on a different one at home the day of surgery and it wasn't as accurate.
Anyway, I'm back to not taking any milk, cheese, etc. The night before my appt w/Dr. Eibes I had such major gas pains I thought I was going to die. I thought about what I had ate that day, cottage cheese for breakfast, string cheese for lunch and something else but can't remember. I think I had been taking it for granted and assuming the OTC stuff I got to help with the lactose intolerance would make it totally go away. When I talked to Dr. Eibes about it, he recommended trying to go lactose free again for a few days just to confirm and also quit drinking my Isopure as the protein in that has/is lactose based. So I have done that and things are much better. The hardest part is I really have to keep track of my protein to be sure I'm getting enough. I'm keeping track on sparkpeople.com and it's going well.
I still need to get some pictures posted. We've been taking pictures once a month so I have some to update. It's hard to find time.

Monday weekly weigh-in
May 07, 2007
Today I weigh 270 on my home scale which means I'm down 73 pounds! Tomorrow will be my 4 month anniversary. I'll have my husband take some pictures and hopefully I'll get them posted soon. I tried on some clothes last night and I can tell I'm losing from top quicker than I'm losing from my tummy & hips. Maybe not quicker but I continue to be pear shaped so I'm hoping once I get cleared for some ab exercises I can change that a little. But I do know I'm losing in my tummy & hips too because I had to quit wearing 2 of my pairs of work slacks. They are very baggy and also way too long now! I never thought about pants getting longer as I lose weight but I suppose my big tummy & hips were hiking them up.
I will see Dr. Eibes on Thursday this week so I'm anxious to make sure all my levels are ok and also to see if I can get set up with an exercise person. I walk and do my elliptical but I'd like to get some kind of program set up for myself.

Just an update
May 01, 2007
Well, I hit my next goal of 275 pounds. This will be my lowest weight in almost 3 1/2 years! I still have a long way to go but it's very exciting for me. Of course, things just don't fit the same after having 2 kids but that's ok. I noticed yesterday that a couple of the pairs of slacks I have been wearing to work are very baggy and also way too long now! I hate to buy new clothes but I think I'll use some mall gift certificates I have and buy a couple pairs of pants to replace them.
I have been weighing myself 1-2 times per week but haven't had a regular routine with it and haven't really tracked except for some of the milestones. I think I'm going to start keeping track and also just weigh myself once a week at the same time every week. I think it will help me to make sure I'm eating and exercising like I should.
I've been reading alot on the Roux-n-Y message boards and there are many good tips, support, recipes, etc out there. I've found that I've been more motivated to exercise and eat right just by reading and sometimes posting on the boards. Don't ask why - just some weird psychological thing I guess. :)

Experimenting
Apr 17, 2007
I'm trying to make my profile look cuter and I did get a weight loss/BMI ticker so now I'm just trying to figure how to get it on here! :)
Also, just a quick update - I'm lactose intolerant but heard of a product called Digestive Advantage. I've been taking it every day and am now back on dairy products with no problems. I also just drank my 1st Isopure in a long time so hopefully things are back on track and I will be getting more protein in.

Lactose Intolerant?
Apr 13, 2007
Holy crap - I just typed a whole post about my gas pains and how I think I'm lactose intolerant and then I must have hit the wrong button and lost it all. Anyway, now I'm busy at work and don't have time to post so I guess I'll do it later!
Bye-Bye Baby Weight!
Apr 04, 2007
Today marks the day that I have officially said goodbye to my baby weight! :) 286 pounds this morning which means I have lost 57 pounds. It's funny though because some things I was able to wear before I got pregnant just don't fit quite yet. I suppose things have "shifted" but I still won't complain.
I'm feeling very good except I'm still having those gas pains. I've tried eliminating different things, like anything with whey protein and most milk products (except string cheese) and it has gotten better but still not totally gone. Someone said maybe I'm eating and drinking too fast but I don't think that's it either because it tends to happen when I haven't had anything to eat or drink for quite some time - like at 4 am. All the sudden I wake up with these pains. I'm hoping this goes away soon because it is very painful. Thankfully it doesn't happen as often as it used to but it's still not fun!
I have a couple of pictures to upload but I don't have them on this computer so I'll have to do it later. My husband had the camera when we were visiting my parents the other day and snapped a shot of me and I do have to say that I can really tell in the picture that I've lost weight.
Skylar & I have been doing water babies swim class. It's fun and she really enjoys it. I'm still not thrilled with the idea of being in a swim suit but I'm doing it for her so I just don't worry about it.
I was turned down for one of the positions I had interviewed for. Come to find out they wanted to someone who, in about 6-9 months could move into a position which requires extensive travel and possible relocation. So that doesn't fit what I can do at this time in my life. I'm still waiting to hear on the other position and I'm anxiously awaiting the phone call. I want it so bad it's been hard for me to concentrate on anything else. I'll be very disappointed if I don't get it but I'm trying very hard not to get my hopes up too high. The fat girl in me is happy that we've had phone interviews (the manager is in Ohio even though the job is in Des Moines). It's so terrible to think that way but I have a great phone voice and a wonderful personality so I'm hoping I "sold" them with that.
One other thing to mention - I'm having a hard time finding spring/summer clothes for work. Mostly shirts/blouses. I know I can find things at LB or Catherine's, etc but I'm so not wanting to pay full price. I checked out Goodwill and Salvation Army in Ankeny the other day with little luck. If anyone knows of a good 2nd hand place that carrys plus size let me know. The stuff on the plus size rack at Goodwill was like XL and 1X - still can't fit into that size yet!
Well, I hope all my friends are doing well. I'm looking very forward to support group next week!!!

Good-bye 300's!!!
Mar 10, 2007
I stepped on the scale this morning and 298 flashed before my eyes! So I said good-bye to the 300's forever! As expected, I didn't have any trouble with this good-bye. :) I'm usually not very good with good-byes but this one was a relief. Anyway, happy 200's to me! Can't wait to say goodbye to the 200's but I know it will be awhile before I can even think about that.
No Wiggles concert tonight
Mar 01, 2007
I was supposed to take Skylar to see The Wiggles tonight. My best friend and her almost 4 year old daughter along with our mothers were all going. Actually I'm relieved that it's postponed because I really didn't want to have to make the choice to drive up or not in the crappy weather. We're gearing up for the next big storm. We were fortunate not to lose power at all during the ice storm last weekend as so many people did, even within 5 miles of us. Hopefully we'll continue to have that kind of luck! :)
I'm proud to say that I have accomplished one of my weight loss goals. I am now at 305, which is 1 pound below my weight at my 6 week check up after Skylar (my 1st child) was born. 17 more pounds to go until ALL the baby weight, from BOTH kids is gone!!! FOREVER!!! Since it's 17 pounds, I'm going to make my next little mini-goal to get out of the 300's. I'm so close to that, but since the weight loss has slowed down it's not going to happen overnight.
I did find some old WW materials and from what I can tell, I was at 274 in Sept. 2003. Then I even found an old notepad where I had kept track of my weight all the back to '96-'97 when I was on Fen-Phen. If I remember correctly I was down to 203 in July of '97 but never did push over that hump to get into the 100's. I even had something written down that I was at 189 or somewhere close to that in 1989 - yeah - junior in high school. God that seems like so long ago and sooooo many pounds to lose but boy I'd kill to be there now. And I thought I was fat then - looking back at pictures I don't know why I thought that. I suppose because I wasn't the "bean pole" that most of my friends were.
Anyway, I digress.....I have some things to do at work that need to get done just in case I'm lucky enough to lose power at work and get to go home - ha! Since I only work about 4 blocks from home AND I have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, I can't use weather as an excuse not to go to work. Gee - can you tell I just love my job?! Good news is that I have a couple of prospects that I'm working on and hoping to get interviews here in the next couple of weeks.

Pictures
Feb 15, 2007
I just uploaded a picture of myself with some friends. We were at a 30th b-day party last Saturday. Yes, I was at a bar, but no I didn't drink anything but water. :) One of my friends e-mailed the picture to me at work today so I thought I would put it on
In comparison, most of the other pictures I have uploaded are from too long ago but I wanted to share my family photos. The best one to compare to at this point is the one of my & both of my kids. That was in November. I still need to upload my picture from the morning of surgery which would be the best to compare. I still haven't dumped that one from my camera to the computer.
