4 years YAY!
Sep 06, 2007
Well I woke up to check my e-mail this morning and found a nice little e-mail from this site reminding me that yesterday was my 4 year surgery aniversary.....WOW! I remember thinking yesterday..... is it someone's Birthday? There is something significant about this day and I can't remember what it is....Well, thanks to the nice little e-mail I recieved I remember now.
I can't believe 4 years ago I walked into the hospital wondering if it was going to be the last day of my life or just the beginning. I have to say that even though I am still considered "obese" I am MUCH MUCH healthier than I have ever been. I feel GREAT! I walk 4 miles a day, EVERY DAY and my health is fantastic! I don't have high blood pressure, I don't have sleep apnea, Overall a complete success!
I have a freind who is really considered a family member who recently called me about a month ago inquiring about my surgery. I hesitate to ever recommend this surgery to anyone because of the risk's involved but I will always tell anyone how very happy I am with the way my surgery turned out. I've resolved that I will NEVER be thin but I will fight to stay HEALTHY. That is my goal. I am a size 22, not what you would expect after having surgery but I lost 130 pounds and thru a couple years manged to put some of that back on until recently where I have stepped up my excercise routine and added ALOT more water to my diet I am back to pretty much the lowest I ever got after surgery. A few more pounds to go and I am going to be realistic....HEALTH is my concern not a size 8-10. As long as I can continue to play tag football w/my son and hike a mountain and ride the amusement rides, keep my blood pressure at an AWESOME 113/68 and sleep w/out waking up gasping for air, I think I'm pretty damn lucky. So for all you who are considering surgery all I can say is I know that it is truely the scariest desicion you will ever make and one you will have to make on your own, but whatever you do set realistic goals for yourself. Don't expect to wake up a size 6. EXPECT TO GET HEALTHY! EXPECT TO LIVE LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST! That is what it is all about! LIFE!
