OK! So yesterday was a busy day. I had my meeting with my excersize therapist, my dietician, and had my psych review. I promised myself I wouldnt get misty in my psych review but I did a bit. Lots....no scratch that....YEARS of issues over my weight built up inside...sort of slipped out a little. The counselor was wonderful and we talked about a number of things but in the end it only took about 45 minutes and was very productive. I dont anticipate any trouble with her signing off on my surgery.
Today I have my sleep study this evening and Im going to try to get in for my physical as well. I had all my bloodwork done yesterday as well forgot to mention that one. Lots of hoops to jump through!
I think I will on occasion, as I remember them and see fit to put them in, relay some of my own personal experience of being the one everyone refers to as "Big Guy".
That term always made me smile a bit on the outside because I know it was meant as a term of endearment. They were thinking of my as "a big teddy bear" "gentle giant" "Sully from Monsters Inc." etc etc. Therfore I never took it as any malice on their part. These were friends and family whom I loved and I know they love me as well. I also couldnt help but be aware of the fact that they saw my size before they saw anything else. This kept me from smiling on the inside.
Well I better get my shower in here before my daughter wakes up. Got a busy day ahead. Also starting my pre-surgery liquid diet today.....really not looking forward to two weeks of that!! Uggggh!
Had similar experiences or wanna vent on something? Then by all means please do. I would love to hear from you.

Well! Last night was the preliminary meet and greet with my surgeon Dr. Price. Most of what was covered in this informational seminar I allready knew from my research prior to this point. I did however get a sense for the type of doctor that Dr Price is and so far Im pleased with my decision. He seems very open and easy to work with.
Our insurance is just not budging on the whole issue of payment.
It really pisses me off to be honest because I know Aetna does pay for bariatric procedures but under the contractural constraints of the group I belong to they absolutely will not pay for ANYTHING. Bastards! They certaintly dont seem to mind taking money from me every month though. I dont know why that should still surprise me. Seems like nobody has any interest in "doing the right thing" only in doing the absolute least they can possibly get by with doing.
So the 25,000.00 bill will be coming straight to me!
Oh Well it's cheaper than coronary artery bypass.......but the good news is my insurance WILL pay for that! Remember when it was your doctor that decided what was best for you..............what happened!
