Holy Hell!!
Sep 16, 2008
OK so it's been nearly 4 weeks since my surgery and this morning I stepped on the scale and saw 330!! It has been a long damned time since I saw 330.
If you count from the time I began my preop liquid diet, I have now lost a grand total of.....................60 pounds!! Most of that was done while lying flat on my back recovering from ....um.......well! thats not really important! What is important is that Im now back on my feet and will be revving up my excersizing program now so Im looking forward to some major gains in the next month. Is it possible could I drop a hundred pounds in 2 months? EXCITING!!
It is amazing to me allready how much better I feel. Breathing is easier, Chest discomfort is GONE!!, ankles and feet have regained their normal sizes. Pants and shorts that literally used to be cutting me in half will now fall off completely if I dont cinch up my belt!! The other day I had a, not formal but more so than shorts and a tee shirt fare, to go to. I looked into my closet and I found some shirts and pants that I had bought years ago but when I got home I found they didnt fit. I kept them "just in case I ever lose weight" because I liked them. I tried them on and they fit perfectly now...lol....but they will be loose in another 20 pounds or so lolol. Everyday is like Christmas!!

3 week post op checkup
Sep 11, 2008
Well today I had my three week post op checkup. I met with the whole team ie: nutritionist, excersize therapist, shrink, surgeon, and nurse. I got high marks from all of them and kudos for the 50 pounds lost so far. It was a fun day all in all.
Im very excited about my future now.....before I had the surgery I wasnt sure I had a future!! Heading off to bed now.....more to follow tomorrow.....nite all .....

Ok! So that wasnt fun.....no, I wont tell you what kind of emergency surgery I needed. Rest assured it was PAINFUL, the recovery really sucked and Im glad the worst of it is behind me. I was anxious to return to work on the 11th but it looks like now it will be a couple of extra weeks.
I miss my job not to mention the extra activity will help me to lose weight even faster. I have been averaging 1.5 to 2.0 pounds per day which is amazing considering for the last week and a half I have been lying around doing little but waiting to heal. Excersizing at this particular moment isnt really an option. Im doing good just to be sitting up in my bed with a laptop. I am getting better each day and feel sooooooooo much better than I did last week.
Had some egg drop soup last night my girls decided they wanted Chinese food and the soup sounded really good to me....and it was. It still amazes me. My driving force for eating used to be that I was "starving" and my stomach was empty and I had hunger pangs. I havent had any of those feelings since I had my operation. Now I eat because my body requires it or because I would like to experience the taste of something. So I take a small portion I have 2-3 tablespoons of it and I know now that is my limit. I stop with no problem at all. I feel completely satisfied. I relish the taste of the food I just had. The really wierd part is that I dont stop because thats all I can take (which used to be the case pre surgery) I stop because after 2-3 tablespoons, that's all I WANT. That fact takes some getting used to. I look at "all you can eat buffets" now as a complete waste of my money. Soon I will be on solid food again and I look forward to ordering a regular meal and having it last me 2 days!!

had an unrelated problem that required emergency surgery. Taking the time to recover from that.....continuing to lose weight....actually doing quite well, but sitting at the desk to type is problematic. I'll make a better entry here in a few days....t/c everyone!
bad day....

OK last night I had an issue...at first I thought I'd had too much cottage cheese and experienced the dreaded "dumping syndrome". In retrospect I think I have the Flu. Mild nausea all day and all last night, and a few other symptoms that well lets face it I dont need to mention here.

So today it has been broth and broth alone. Thats ok with me tho because I actually do enjoy the chicken and beef broth. I am feeling better and slowly getting my strength back. Ill let you know tomorrow how tonight went....

I tell you what I have come across more things that I have found to be delicious that I dont really even miss doing the things that got me to this point. Here are a few things I would like to pass on to whomever might be reading this.
Jello - Sugar Free/Fat Free instant pudding made with skim milk...
This stuff fu**ing rocks!! I get my sweetness jollies going with this miracle of science. Does it taste exactly like the "real deal"...no. Is it however a low calorie alternative that happens to be delicious to this post-operative primadonna.....HELL YEAH!!
Canned Soups in general
These are a delicious never ending variety of yumminess that I make in the following way. Prepare the soup as usual per directions on the label. Thin it with an additional can of stock chicken or beef depending on the soup you are using. Grab your boat motor (immersion blender) and whazz the hell outta it. Making it all nice and smooth. This will also release the flavors of all the different ingredients as well. Then sieve it to remove any chunks that might cause you pain. This is an amazing lunch/dinner its is completely smooth, nutritious, delicious, and satisfying. Be sure to sip it slowly and make sure it's not too hot. Take a moment to savor each spoonfull and see how many differnt flavors you can identify. Prep time is less than 10 minutes and one can of soup fixed in this fashion lasts me for 4-5 meals!!! When was the last time you had 4-5 meals for around $2.85!!!

Clam Chowder ROCKS!! cleared to drive...........................see ya!
motoring on.....
Aug 24, 2008
It's wierd after so long of waiting fo rthe surgery and learning what you will do after the surgery and this about the surgery and that about the surgery.....then all of a sudden the surgery part of it is done and before you know it your in the middle of a day to day grind to get rid of the weight. The difference between this grind and similar grinds of the past is that this one is actually working. But there is something almost anticlimatic about the whole thing. Im sure this is some kind of post operative funk Im basting in and little else.
Dropped another 3-4 pounds I am now in the mid 350's. Havent seen them in quite some time. It has been fun getting up each morning to see what fruits my labors of the previous day have yielded. I am walking a couple of miles a day now with little or no problem at all. I'll be calling my Dr. this am to see if they will clear me to drive! Im going batshit just sitting around the house all the time.
My diet has taken an upturn as I have been making soups lately. Making them in the standard way thinning them with chicken or beef stock as needed . Then I puree them with an immersion blender and strain them through a fine sieve. The resultant soup has all of the vitamins and minerals and I get a variety of savory taste experiences. I have been enjoying this very much the last day or two. Who knew I would EVER get this excited about soup of all things.....My God!! lol
