I'm Still Happy and Losing the Pounds

Oct 11, 2008

WOW, I can't believe that my last post was in June.  I must say that I've been really busy and it makes it difficult to post.  Things are still going very well for me.  I've been a little lazy with my exercising; however, I'm working diligently to improve that fact.  One additional fact is that it is important to continue to drink the protein shake even after it is no longer required.  I've found that incorporating one drink a day into my schedule continues to assist with my weight loss.

I'm now wearing a size 16W, down from a 28/30.  The difference is amazing!  I actually put on a pair of the the jeans that I was wearing pre-surgery and there is enough room in them for another person.  The only thing that I can say is that I'm so glad that I made the decision to have the surgery.

I'm thankful for the support of my family and other members of this site for their support!  Lastly, I've gone from weighing 341 pds to 220 pds.

God bless,
Beverly

I'm Still Excited About My Choice

Jun 08, 2008

Yet again, it has been a while since my last post.  Things have been really busy, so it has been difficult to post as often as I'd like.  With that said, things are going really well.  I've lost a little over 100 pds.  Everyday is challenge to ensure that I eat the right foods and excerise.

I feel so much better than I did prior to the surgery.  I have more energy and mind set change which allows me to keep in the forefront of my mind that I don't want to go back.  I hope that anyone else that has made the decision to have surgery (whether lapband or bypass), will find the same happiness and joy.

Losing Weight and Loving It

Apr 04, 2008

I tell you it seems more and more difficult to find the time to post; however, I think that sharing our weight loss experiences here on Obesity Help is so helpful.  When I was going through the days leading up to my surgery, I found so much comfort in being able to speak with people that understood what I was experiencing.

With that said, life is good!  I'm am so thankful that I made the decision to have the gastric bypass surgery.  I'm currently down from a size 30 pants to 22.  I am so excited!  I exercise every day and feel very guilty if I don't.  I've ordered the hip hop abs videos which are really good.  I also use the treadmill, walking off the pound videos, step and walking around the track outside.  I am really committed to meeting my weight loss goal and maintaining the loss for the rest of my life.  What I found to be really important is that not only is having the surgery a physical change (weight loss), it also has to be a mindset change.  We must have to change our beliefs regarding how we eat and the importance of exercise to maintaining what we've started.

I have no regrets and am willing to share my personal experiences with anyone who needs encouragement or considering having the surgery.

Things are Going Great!

Feb 25, 2008

It has been quite a while since I've updated my profile.  It's amazing how quickly time goes by.  I returned to work on February 11th. I didn't share the fact that I was having the bypass surgery with my co-workers prior to going out on short term disability.  Low and behold upon my return, I found that a coupl e of my co-workers already began guessing that I had weight loss surgery.  It was nice to return to work to a very welcome response.  I have co-workers that compliment me daily on how good I look.

I am so happy that I made the decision to have the surgery.  I've already had to buy a few new outfits.  I've begun a daily exercise routine.  It just seems that after having the surgery, my entire mind set has change.

Again, I am so thankful that I had the surgery.

God Bless,
Bev

Life is Great!

Feb 05, 2008

I haven't posted in a while, so I wanted to take a moment to provide an update.   I had my follow-up visit with the dietician last Wednesday and have now progressed passed the puree phase.  I'm really glad to now be able to eat salads and add more fiber to my diet.  Taking iron and not having enough fiber was really hard on my stomach.  I am happy to say that it is all behind me now.

I am so glad that I made the decision to have the surgery.  It has definitely changed my life in a positive way.  I've lost approximately 37 pds since my surgery.  It's difficult for me to tell; however, I've received a lot of compliments related to the weight loss.

God is good and I am Happy!!!!

Promoted to the Next Eating Phase

Jan 02, 2008

I am happy to say that effective today, I have graduated to mushys!!!  I am so happy to be off of liquids.  I've been on a liquid diet since Dec. 4, so being able to eat is a welcome change.

On another note, I am happy with my choice to have the surgery.  Things are getting easier.  The hardest tasks for me is getting on a schedule when it comes to taking my vitamins.  I think that it will be much easier now that I am able to eat soft foods. The foods will help to coat my stomach which will make it easier to take the pills.  In addition eating the mushy foods increase my desire to drink water.

Until I post next time!

Home and Healing

Dec 25, 2007

My surgery was successfully completed on Thursday.  It was a little more difficult the doctor expected and took 4.5 hours versus the usual 2 hours.  I'm really blessed to have wonderful surgeons.  The first and second days after surgery were the hardest.  My second day in the hospital is when I made myself start walking.  I did smal walks and increased the distance each day.

I was released from the hospital on Sunday.  I'm feeling better with each passing day.  I haven't taken a pain pill since Sunday, the day I was released from the hospital.  As of today, I don't have any regrets.  I have to call tomorrow to schedule my 10 day appointment with my sugeon.  After my t10 day appointment, I will get prompted to the mushy (soft food) stage of the program.  My struggles are making myself eat although I'm not hungry, getting all of my vitamins in and drinking enough liquids including my protein drinks.  I know that these struggles get better over time.  I am patient and know that anything worth having is worth fighting for.  I feel that my weightloss journey is worth fighting for and things will get better everyday.  I am happy and have no regrets!

Halleluah, Tomorrow is My Big Day!!!!!

Dec 18, 2007

I am so excited, tomorrow is my big day!!!!!  I met with my surgeon yesterday and my weight loss while on the liquid diet is good.  We discussed all of my surgical options.  We are still shooting for the RNY with a back up plan.  I'm running to the finish line.

Please continue to keep me in your prayers!  I can't wait to be a part of the losing team!

God Bless and Happy Holidays!!!!!!

Yeah, 2 Days Left and Counting

Dec 16, 2007

I'm so excited this is my week!  I am just counting down the days to finally having my surgery.  I meet with my surgeon on tomorrow and I know the outcome will be positive.  This surgery has been a long time coming.  I've faced many obstacles; however, I just know that this time it's going to be a done deal.  I  am really blessed to have a wonderful support system.  My support system doesn't just include my immediately family, it also includes the wonderful group of people that I've met via the Obesity Help coummunity.

Please continue to keep me in your prayers!

The Count Down Has Begun

Dec 15, 2007

Well, the count down to my surgery has begun for the third time.   I know that the third time has to be the charm.    I completed my pre-surgical informaton with the nurse at the hospital on Thursday.  Unfortunately, I won't be having my surgery done at the same hospital due to them being booked.  It's okay though because I will be closer to home this time.

I meet with my surgeon on Tuesday to discuss surgery expectations and check my weight loss progress after being on the liquid diet.  I'm really excited that the time is already here.  I'm ready to move forward with the next phase of my life as a loser (of weight) on the winning side of my weigh loss journey.
