My struggle with weight control began the summer before entering high school.  I left 8th grade at 133 and entered high school at 164.  That was the summer my grandfather died of cancer.  Since then I have lost and gain so many pounds it was difficult to solidify a weight loss history for my psych evaluation!

My life style has always been busy with participating in sporting activities and coaching.  But I have seen a drastic change to my activity level when I began teaching in 1998.  Gone were my skiing outings mid week to Tahoe.  I had ACL surgery in 1994 but continued to be somewhat active - I graduated with a BA in Physical Education in May 1997.

I am a mother of four grown children and my daughters remember me as always on one diet or another.  I love to cook and really watched how I prepared meals to keep calories down.  I still find myself with all this excess weight.

After my volleyball injury in August 2007 (I fell teaching footwork to middle school girls on the first day of practice), my lost weight found me one pound at a time.  I reached my lifetime high and added 4 pounds to discover a new high.

My brother had RNY in Aug 2005 and he has been encouraging me to do the same.  It is almost Tuesday, July 5th and I am preparing for my surgery.  Can't wait to shop in my own closet for a change!!!
