Almost 5 weeks post op!!

I have lost 30 lbs to date and feel pretty good. I still have my good days and bad days. My doctor cleared me to go to the gym the other day so I need to look into that. I can't believe my surgery has gone by this fast and lost this much weight already. All I can say is one word: WOW!

I am 3 weeks post op, lost 23 pounds, and I can wear my size 22 jeans again. I had been having problems eating, but am getting back into the habit of it, I have been having to force myself to eat at times just so I can make sure I get my nutrition. I go to a support group tomorrow night to share my story.

I had my surgery Monday and have been post op about 4 days. I have lost 16 lbs, probably more because I don't feel well, than because of the actual adhesion to the surgery rules. But, it hasn't all been so bad, I have taken a few showers, it helps to ease my muscles, I am still alive, and I can eat a few things. Lol!
I have a lot of trouble taking my meds, because my pouch can't hold very much, and when you mix my meds with all of those meds, it fills it up! I am sure that it is due to the fact that I am still swollen inside though.
I don't remember much about the first day. I remember going to the pre-op room, where they had a little trouble with my IV, my family was there, they put this silver cap on my head, and asked a lot of questions. Eventually they took me to the operating room and had me get on the operating table, but the gas mask on me, and I was out. I remember not much after that until I woke up in my room. I don't even remember recovery! I don't know what happened there.
I know I had a bad IV in the beginning in my Left hand, but then they took it out and put it in the Right hand. BUT . . . . somehow I have 6 other needle marks on my left, and I remember a nurse wanting blood, but I am not quite sure why she did it 6 times on the same arm. I am going to call the Careplex on Monday to find out if I can talk to someone about it.

Last Friday I had my pre-op testing, and on tomorrow, (1-16-07), I am going to my 3 and a half hour long class for educating me on my surgery. Tomorrow afternoon, I am getting to see the surgeon, Dr. Thomas Clark. Then all I have left is the whole fitness evaluation and a tour of the Sentara fitness center.
A week from today is my surgery!!! I am so nervous and totally excited and I hope and pray that everything goes well for me.

I went to see Dr. Mascalo today and she was pretty interesting. I agreed with some of her views though and we had a good session. She cleared me for surgery, so that was excellent news! All I am waiting for is the records from my PCP to be sent to Dr. Clark, and then I should be able to start my surgery program! I will keep everyone updated! Take care . . .

Tomorrow I am going to get cleared by my psychiatrist for my meds and stability to go through the surgery. I know he will clear me because I am doing much better than I was when he met me a year ago and also because I talked about this to him last month. I am also going to pick up copies of my weight and blood pressure logs from them, because they take it everytime I come there. I am hoping it will help with getting the surgery. Well, I went to the pcp today to get my doctor records. I sure hope they will take 4.5 years because thats all I have available to me. My doc was totally happy for me, and told me that she had many patients that had success with Dr. Clark. That made me happy. I had my Medicare physical today too and she said everything was fine. Next week I will get my clearance through my pdoc and my weight and blood pressure chart too. Then all I have to do is wait for the appointment with the Psychologist. Yay! Then we wil see what happens and I will keep you updated! Happy Holidays!

Christmas is near, and my friend Billie just got her surgery date for January 16, 2007. I am so excited for her. My date shouldn't be too long after I get the psychologist stuff taken care of. I am really getting happy about this. I guess I should be, I mean, I need to lose the weight, and my back pain is out of control. So. . . . I can't wait. Take care to all!

Today we sold stuff at the Stagecoach Antique Flea Market in Gloucester, VA. I made a little amount of money. Better than usual. That place doesn't always get the best of business, but today was OK. I am going to use most of this money to put some toward the $550 fee for the Program. I am so excited, I am getting closer and closer to paying a good amount on it. Whoo-Hoo!!! Hopefully this surgery won't be too far away . . . Have a happy Holiday, it is almost here!!!
