Still Losing!!!
Sep 22, 2007
Averaging about 338-339 pounds, 36-37 pounds total lost in a little over a month and a half.
Energy level is great!! Freinds are really noticing the weight loss.
i still think i need a fill to kick the weight loss up a notch. I've eaten some quite large meals without feeling very full, but then there are times where I eat just a little bit of more solid food, and I fill up quickly. This is definitly a learning experience!!!
I am not eating very many sweets, which is great also. That's the last thing I need is to get on a sweet kick, pounding back ice cream, milk shakes etc....that would really screw things up!!
That's all for now....just thought I'd post a quick update

33 pounds down!!
Aug 26, 2007
Hi all....haven't posted in quite a while....thought I'd post an update.
Its 30+ days from when I started my pre-op liquid diet, and I am 33 pounds down, however I've noticed my weight can swing 2-3 pounds a day, but I am averaging about 342 pounds.
I went to my post-op visit with my surgeon a couple of weeks ago, and he was very pleased with my progress. i told him my appetite was increasing quite a bit from the first 2 weeks post-op. Its still much less than the 'old me' appetite, but I noticed a big increase nonetheless.
Some days I eat very little and feel full and satisfied, but some days I eat much more, and know that I shouldn't. Learning to eat without drinking anything is a tough routine to get into, but I'm getting better at it. I try to drink a bunch of water or other low-cal drink just prior to eating.
Freinds and family have noticed my weight loss without having to remind them about it, which feels good.
I think I will need a fill though when my first fill opportunity comes up. I think I need a little more band help to keep my weight loss going strong.
I took my son Tanner to Sea World in San Diego last week, walked all through the park pushing him in a stroller, and had a geat time!!!
A year ago if I had done that, I would have been exhausted for 3 or 4 days afterwards, but I felt great the very next day!!!

Things have been going pretty good all week. My appetite has been increasing gradually during the week, however, I am down 5 more pounds for the week.
I now stand at 27 pounds total lost, 20 pounds down since my surgery.
I am probably eating around 1000 calories a day or less. My energy level has been really good too.
I've hit the gym 5 days this week, gradually increasing my cardio workouts from 30 minutes to 35 minutes as of today. I do 12-15 minutes on the eliptical, then split the rest of the time between the standard Lifecyle bike and the recumbant Lifecycle bike.
I have not had any vomiting episodes, and have not even come close to feeling nauseuos since surgery. I have felt exceptionally full a few times, which was a little uncomfortable.
My incisions seem to be healing fine too, and I am starting to put lotion on them to help in the healing, and to lessen the scar appearance.
I have my first Post-Op doctor visit coming up on August 16th, and am anxious to see how the doctor thinks I am progressing.
That's all for now!!!

Weighed myself at my gym, LA Fitness, on the way to the airport to drop off my sister.
I'm now down 19 pounds from my starting weight!!!!
I'm down 14 pounds from my pre-op weight!!
I'm now at 356, and can really feel and see the loss in my face, neck, legs, etc.
Going to the gym today for the first time to ride the stationary bike.....I was going to go yesterday or the day before, but didn't get in.
Also bought some Isopure protein drink from Hi Health yesterday. $2.99 a bottle when you buy 12, not too bad, and they taste pretty good too.
The vanilla/chocolate protein shakes get a little old after a while, so the Isopure is a nice alternative, and each one has 40 grams of protein!!!
Have a good weekend all.....

Went to my gym today and weighed myself.....down to 360!!! 15 pounds lost total, about 10 pounds down from the start of my liquid diet 1 week pre-op.
Woo Hoo!!!
I find that I have to ton of gas in my pouch for some reason, and it hurts alot to burp....so I started taking some gas-x type gas reliever gel caps today, and they seem to be helping.
I've been walking around alot, and will probably go to the gym tommorow to start riding the stationary bikes they have.
That's all for now....thanks to all of you for your comments and continued support!!!

3 Days Post-Op
Aug 01, 2007
On my second day home from the hospital, 3 days since the surgery. I'm doing pretty well, not really hungry at all!!! Its weird not wanting to snarf down a couple burgers at lunch!
I'm doing 3 protein shakes a day, plus some cream soups, sugar free jello, water, and thats about it so far.
I went to my gym today to weigh myself, but it was a different location, so their scale only went up to 350. I'll have to go to my gym's location....their scale goes to 400.
I weighed 367 when I left the hospital, which is 8 pounds down from my start weight.
Sleeping in my bed the first night was ok, but my neck, calves, and shoulders hurt. It was hard to lift my head off of the pillow to get up in the morning.....might have all been from the anesthesia wearing off??? Who knows....all I know is that I'm feeling much better today.
I have to remind myself to slow down my drinking speed.
That's all for now.....more later....

Home from the Hospital!!

The Lap Band is in place!! Surgery went well, no complications.
I thought I'd be released from the hospital the same day as the surgery, but the doc didn't get up to my room to see me in time, so I stayed the night.
At home now, trying to get my first protein shake down, and all my vitamins!!
I'm going to rest now....I'll post more later....

Third Day of Pre-Op Liquid Diet
Jul 25, 2007
I'm on my 3rd day of my pre-op liquid diet. I've been drinking 3-5 protein shakes a day, the first one in the morning I blend in half a bannana and give the other half to my son Tanner.
Other than the shakes, I drink 1-3 cans of V8 per day, 1-2 Vitamin Waters, and tons of water.
I haven't had any carbonated drinks during this phase either, which is tough for me because I am officially hooked on Diet Pepsi.
Other things I've been eating are chicken broth, vegetable broth, beef broth (haven't had it yet, but I have bought it....will probably try it tonight), sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello and sugar free pudding, sugar and fat free yougurt.
I also mixed up a can of cream of chicken soup last night with 1% milk....that was good!!
The popsicles seem to work really well too.....after having liquids all day, its nice to bite into something solid.
I did cheat twice, while feeding my son. I grabbed one of his chicken nuggets. I brushed off the breading and just ate the white meat!!
I don't think I'll be cheating any more this week, even though I don't think an occasional cheat is going to hurt me very much.
I feel pretty full and satisfied this morning, which is unusual, but a good feeling for being on a liquid diet.
That's all for now....I'll repost later this week with an update as to how the liquid diet is going.
