Angela, I'm sorry your mom isn't there for you now when she would be so much comfort to you. My parents are both elderly and my mother borders on Alzheimers, so they are not here for me either (I'm still pre-op). Look at the other people in your life and gather the support where you can (work, church, friends, here on the board). I know it's not the same as having your parents support you, but rather than thinking of what you don't have, find what you do.

I'm sorry to hear your parents haven't responded yet. Maybe in time -- they will call you. But, remember if they don't you still have a large group of friends here who will be cheering you on. Good luck to you.

Angela! You are a beautiful woman. I know the set back is a bit awful, but it is best that your doctor is not in a hurry to do the surgery with a low iron count. Just stay positive, March is aroud the corner. You will have a new body in only a few short months! Keep in touch.

Angela, I'm somewhat in the same situation as you. I am scared to death about having this surgery. My surgery is scheduled for January 16th, in 2 weeks. So you can just about imagine what I'm going through, but don't worry, it gets better. I try to think positive. So I'm giving you the same advice. When you think positive, positive things happens! I'll pray for you, as I will pray for myself.

Angela, Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. I understand your feelings of being scared and of the not knowing and the what if' s. I also tortured myself with all of that. I read the memorial page as well and cried and cried. It is scarey but so is life as a moribly obese person. I wish you the best and peace about your decision. (7 months -114lbs)

Good luck, Angela, on your journey. My surgery date is 2/12...I know that waiting is the hardest part. Try to keep the faith. Remember all the reasons why you've chosen this route. It will all be worth it in the end...living a healthier, longer life! God bless and happy holidays.
