I have regained my lost weightg plus some. Excited for the second new begining!

3/30/2006 After my consult with Dr.Paul Enochs, M.D. I will begin to document my journey. I would much rather wait until I hear something positive to begin. My consult is on April 3,2006, I have Independence Blue Cross Blue Sheild of Pennsylvannia. Wish me luck guys!!!!!!! Prayers are appreciated even more.

4/2/2006 My consult is tomarrow. Pray for me! This is a letter that I wrote to make sure the insurance company know how much I want and need this operation :

To Whom This May Concern:

I know there will be a letter written by many medical professionals listing why I need this surgery. I just feel it’s necessary to write to you to tell why I personally need this surgery. Honestly it’s the little things that would make the difference in my life along with the huge things like living a healthy lifestyle and eating in moderation.

My sister, mother, and I have been obese to super morbidly obese as long as I can remember. My Mother along with all of the family on my Father’s side has diabetes as well as other issues stemming from obesity. When I say all I mean my grandmother, grand father (deceased), father (deceased), a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. I don’t want that to be me. I’m considered lucky in my family to not suffer from the effects of this disease. When ever they see me that nearly break down in tears in fear of me losing this battle with my weight.

My father lost his battle. Diabetes took his life at an age too early. He was only in his thirty’s. I at the time, was only three and don’t remember much, but as I started to get older (middle school) and my weight started to creep up, my mother as well as family and friends were eager to tell me the consequences of being overweight and the effects that diabetes had on Dad.

My weight has affected me personally as well as physically. I’m on a website called www.obesityhelp.com, and on my personal page I have a list of things having this surgery would allow me, by being a healthy weight. They are as follows:

Sitting down in a seat and being able to see the seat around me

Wearing a skirt in the summer w/o stockings and my legs don’t rub together until they burn!!!!! (ouch)

Not having rolls hang over my elbows

Being able to pass through a row of persons (movies, school, church) and not bump into someone or knock their papers, homework, and or food over

Walk up a flight of stairs (especially in school (so embarrassing)) and not get winded

No pain in my knees

No more “sad face” belly button

People will stop asking when I’m due (I’m not pregnant fool !!!)

No swollen feet

Walk through a mall and the opposite sex notices me (what a feeling)

The men in my life would look at me more as a possible mate instead of being one of the guys or a “really cool girl”

One chin, need I say more ???

Not having to use the handicap stall cause there is not enough room in the regular ones

Crossing my legs

No dark inner thighs

Just to name a few

The letter goes on but you get the point

4/3/2006 Hello Obesity Helpers!!! I had my consult with Dr. Enochs today. I went into the office nervous because I’m only 227 and most persons I’ve talked to are like 300+. So I was reassured when he told me I’d be an excellent candidate. He was surprisingly young but had the knowledge and experience of a doctor much older. I felt he was genuinely concerned with my issues. I’m not sure what his nationality is but when he opened his mouth he sounded like a black man, it just threw me a little. But NE-way it was overall a great experience. I didn’t however expect for me to be there as long as I was (12:00 appt. to 2:50pm) and there are no work-up appointments scheduled until at least $250 of the $500 administration fee paid. Things are moving surprisingly swift. My appointments are as follows: 4/10- Psychiatric 4/10-Cardiology 4/11- Franklin medical center (diagnostic procedures and Lab work) 4/11 Nutritionist 4/12- Gastroenterologist 4/19- Pulmonary
