my how time flies...

Apr 19, 2010

I am very rarely on obesity help, I stop in from time to time to update, read blogs & articles, etc... Just thought I'd let (anyone who's interested) know that I'm doing pretty good. Had some tough times there for a bit, but hey, we wouldn't recognize the good without the bad. I have lost about 65 pounds. I was jammin right along, losing a few pounds per week, until I quit smoking. Now I'm just maintaining. Which at first I was upset about, but now am glad because hey, it could be worse, I could be gaining! God knows most people do gain weight when they quit smoking. I quit about six weeks ago, and it's going well. About the same time I developed a foot problem, which is almost healed now. No doubt that's hindering my weight loss too, since I can't do my regular exercise routine. I'm very, very glad summer is almost here. Being outside in the fresh air again -- swimming, bicycling, gardening, etc...will help me get back on track.

Most of us feel like we have to do all of this as quickly as possible. It hasn't even been a year since I had surgery, yet I feel like I'm not doing well enough! I have to remind myself that that I certainly didn't gain it all in a year, I won't lose it all in a year. We have to stop being so hard on ourselves. A wise woman once asked me if I would hold others to the standard I hold myself to....I would not. Most people wouldn't. So why are we so hard on ourselves?! I remind myself that I need to practice patience. I had two surgeries last year, and lost a lot of weight, amongst so many other life-changing things...this is not easy on the body. My body is somewhat confused I think. First she had surgery on her hand, then weight loss surgery, which took away her food, then took away her cigarettes. She's probably thinking wtf?!

So I'm wearing a turtle charm on my neclace every day now, to remind myself to slow it down a bit. I would encourage everyone to stop and take a deep breath every now & then....maybe smell the roses

finally!!

Sep 21, 2009

I had my third adjustment today, and finally feel some restriction! Hallelujah! Hopefully won't have to have too many
more
adjustments; since, as some of you know, I was having major problems with the adjustments. But not today, it
went pretty easily. Four needle sticks, but no fishing! Doc added 2cc's, bringing me up to 6 total. Halfway full now.
Thanx to everyone who said prayers for me, I really appreciate it!

5 laps!

Sep 16, 2009

Me & my poor little dog Rocky did five laps at the track today! I know it's not like five miles or anything, but
it's a high for me since surgery. In fact, it's a high for me since... I dunno, two or three years probably! And
I am actually sticking to the arms toning three times a week - even though my arms are not looking any better -
yet!

Nube Here

Sep 01, 2009

Hello all! Nube here. I went searching for some kind of website for support because there are no support groups in my area. It sure would be nice to have others to talk to about what I'm going thru, especially people who have been thru the same thing.
Hope everyone's doing well!
