Nov 29, 2007

Well it's been 10 months and 16 days and I am at goal.  It seems like yesterday that I started this journey, of course when I look back at some of the tougher times I know it didn't happen overnight.  WHOOA though what a ride.  I am at 167 LBS so if I loose a little more that's okay, but if not that's okay also.  In the begining of this I was looking to get to 180 LBS, that was the last time I can remember feeling healthy, I beat that SSSOOOOOO HOOORAY!  Even better than my weight is how great/healthy I feel.  To those of you reading this, if you're considering the surgery.....GO FOR IT.  Not only is there alot of support out there, but Dr. Elias is the biggest cheerleader of all.  IT IS SOOOOOO WORTH IT!!!!!!

THANK YOU FAMILY, FRIENDS AND DR ELIAS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT, ENCOURAGEMENT AND OCCASIONAL BUTTKICKING YOU'VE GIVEN ME THIS PAST YEAR AND NUMEROUS SURGERIES.

                                                        I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

AND THEN THERE WERE 7!!!

Nov 19, 2007

Happy Holidays to all.  I would like to announce our newest additions:

Faith Marie Shultz ~ 4 1/2 years old
Brandon James Shultz ~ 3 1/2 years old
Drake Lloyd Shultz ~ 6 years old

It's official as of November 16, 2007.  So many great things have happened to us this year that it seems unreal.  I am doing wonderfully with my RNY (10 months and 1 week post-op) and my TT (7 weeks post-op).  I have been very fortunate and THANKFUL because I've had no side affects or complications with either surgery.  MORE IMPORTANTLY... I look and feel terrific.  I even bought a little black dress for family pictures and WORE IT!!  I will upload them as soon I as get them back.  I would like anyone out there that reads this to search yourself and your home and see if you have more to offer.  I have been a foster parent for 3 years and although dealing with the parents can sometimes be tough....it is very rewarding to see the children grow and flourish in a loving and nurturing environment.  Consider fostering, it will forever change your life and if your looking to adopt there's special programs out there to help you.  Okay...Okay I've stepped down off of my soap box.  Thank you family, friends, agency workers, judges and Dr. Elias for my TRUELY BLESSED AND WONDERFUL LIFE.

Tummy Tuck.....Great Success!!!

Oct 12, 2007

Hi everyone...if there's anyone reading this.  I had my TT 9/28 so I'm 2 weeks post-op today and I feel great.  I wasn't going to have this done because of a couple of reasons:  1) I went from a size 28 to a 14/16 so my stomach was so much smaller than when I started...    2) Pain and lack of things I'd be able to do during healing time (eg. Soccer mom/coach, housework, mom of 3 toddlers and 2 active teenage daughters, walking, jogging) and.....   3) I had the bypass so that I could do all the the above things and BE HEALTHY not to be a bikini model.
After talking it over with my husband and Dr Elias I decided that why not finish the work...so here I am 2 week out and I want to tell everyone....
YAHOOOOOOOO!  The pain was so minimal that I didn't require any meds after about 36 hours, I only missed coaching 1 soccer game and missed had minimal participation at one practice, I am still very active with the kids and husband and feel even healthier now!  I have 2 very large scars one horizontal and one vertical, but since I have no desire to wear a bikini.....DON'T CARE!!! I'm loving life and looking forward to buying a little black dress for the holidays.  Some more exciting news...
WE'LL BE ADOPTING OUR 3 TODDLER FOSTER CHILDREN ON NOVEMBER 16, 2007..... and I can have tons of pictures taken and be smiling on the inside and out!!!!!
Good luck to all out there!  I'll try to update some of my pictures soon!

WHOOOAAA!

Sep 18, 2007

Hi everyone, today is 9/18/2007 and I got a call yesterday that my peniculectomy was approved and scheduled....what a gasping surprise.  First off that I lost the expected amount of weight already and secondly that for the first time in about....25 years I won't have a DUNLAP...ya know the fat that done lapped over your pants.  I'm not really scared, but anxious just to get it done and out of the way.  Then what next???  This has been one heck of a ride.  I sometimes look in the mirror and can't believe it's really happening to me!  After years of seeing that fat hanging around everywhere no matter how hard I tried I just stunned....happily stunned.
Take care.

Whoa......time has flown by:)

Aug 26, 2007

Hi Friends,
Today is August 27, I had my Dr. E appt on friday and total weight loss is at 112 lbs (by my scales).  I told him that I'm am more focused on toning now moreso than losing.  My face at times seems too thin to me.  I told him that if I can lose my more from my trunk area then I'm game otherwise, I don't want to lose anymore.  He looked at my stomach and said that he feels there's 2 layers of skin/fat on my stomach and he doesn't feel that I will lose much more there...READY FOR THIS?  He took pictures and said that when I'm ready he'll do the TT..can you believe it?  I thought it would take atleast a year before he'd suggest that, but he said that the weight came off great and that it's up to me when I want to finish the process.  I only lost 9 lbs last month, but he told me I did GREAT!  I felt like a million bucks!  I think I'm still in shock over the whole...It's time for the TT.  FYI.....7 months and 10 days post...again WHOA! amazing.

Take care Friends
Becky

6 Months and 2 Days Post-op

Jul 12, 2007

Hi everyone....anyone?  Today is July 12 and it's been exactly 6 months and 2 days since my surgery.  I now weigh 194 and grand total for weight loss to date is 103 LBS.  I can't get used to the fact that I'm losing weight, sometimes I look in the mirror and still see the old me.  I've tried for so many years to lose that it just doesn't seem real.  I am only about 34 LBS from my goal weight and it's only been 6 months.  I eat whatever I want, but only in moderation and try to eat healthier all the time now.  I always had a diverse diet, but I love veggies now even more that before.  I always liked to cook, but now it gives me more satisfaction to make meals that you don't have to eat a lot of in order to taste it.  eg. chicken taco salad with green peppers, onions, baked chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and salsa.....YUM and the family loved it too!  I have dropped 7 dress sizes and 1 cup size.  I have a lot of pouchiness in my stomach, inner thighs and upper arms, but I guess that's to be expected.  We've been doing a lot of camping and boating in the last two months and hate to think of summer ending.  I hope all is well with everyone...anyone who reads this.

Thank you to my family and friends for all of the love and support.  I AM TRUELY BLESSED  <3

5 Months Post-op

Jun 11, 2007

Hi there...well we took our first full family vacation in Nags Head, NC.  It was wonderful, so relaxing that when we got home it didn't even seem like we were gone for a week.  Everyone got a little red, peeled a little (even with SPF 30!), but then tanned and had a terrific time.  The house we rented had 27 steps in it.....X10-15 times a day....I got my cardio in each day.  I lost 3 pounds while there.  I now weigh 205 which is a grand total so far of 92LBS.  Yaaaaaahoooooo!  Dr E says great job only 45 more to go...it seems like I am able to eat more...within reason and still lose as long as I'm careful.  He said I can eat anything I want.....well you know what I mean, as long as I chew it up good.  Hooray veggies & fruits.  Well it's getting late so I'll post later.

Quickie!!!

May 26, 2007

Quick post...today is May 27, 2007 I'm down to 208 and it's 12:12 AM and my family and I are leaving for NC beach in just 30 min.  I'll update later...TTFN

4 Months Post-op

May 10, 2007

Hi everyone....today is May 10, 2007 and it's been 4 months it seems like forever since WLS.  I weigh 215-218 on my scales which means I've lost 82LBS in 4 months and over 60" all over.  I feel terrific and have much more stamina and courage.  I try to eat my protein and I am very careful not to get dehydrated in the sun since 3 weeks ago that is exactly what happened.  I have been walking alot and working outside everyday.  I feel great, I have to work hard to loose, but it's worth it.  I'm down to a size 16/18, but am not just yet comfortable in my new skin.

3 Months Post op

Apr 09, 2007

Hi everyone..I started at 297 lbs and am now 228 lbs on my scales, which is 69 lbs less in the 3 months.  I only lost 7 lbs last month and was very disappointed with myself, not because of the minimal loss (ANY LOSS IS STILL A LOSS), but because of my laziness.  I got a slight case of pneumonia which prevented me from walking on the treadmill and when I got better....I GOT LAZY!  I want to lose atleast 25 lbs before my next Dr E appt April 27, 2007.  I'm trying not to set unrealistic goals, so if I really work at it and only lose 15 lbs I won't beat myself up.  I just need to remind myself to work on it and not just expect it to go away on its own.  I look in the mirror and see the person on the outside that only used to live on the inside.  I hope the weight loss doesn't make me become vain though.  I always did try to dress nicely, especially for special occasions, but I find myself not wanting anything to hang largely on me now.  NO TIGHT FITTIN clothes or anything like that, but a little tailored, which was not in my large vocabulary before.

I am doing great emotionally and physically with the exception of the fatigue.  I'm hoping the more active I get the less fatigue I will experience.  I still tend to eat a little faster than I should, but it is getting better.  The mental struggle of "only eat when your're hungry" continues to ensue, but I am handling it better.

If you are new to this surgery, Dr. Elias is your doctor and you are struggling hang in there it does and will get better.  Come to the April 18 support group meeting and we'll complain and learn together.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF MY LOVING FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.  I LOVE YOU ALL.
